Waste Management Consultant
What a strange title for a post on a Chester related website you may think. Waste Management Consultant? What’s that all about? But fear not, it isn’t that strange (well, not to my mind!!). All will be revealed. Am I advertising for a waste management consultant job vacancy? Perhaps, but rather than string that option along, I’ll say now, that no I’m not. Or, is it a new career I am thinking of embarking on? Again, the answer to that is, no.
Oh, what the heck, I’ll get right to it. Waste Management Consultant is the reply that Tony Soprano gave to his psychiatrist, Jennifer Melfi (played by Lorraine Bracco) to the question of, “what line of work are you in?” So, the reference to him being in the “waste management” business popped up on several occasions.
I’m guessing some are saying, “yes…..and?” Right, just stick with me. Keen followers of the very, very popular “The Sopranos” series of programmes will also know who Tony Soprano (played by the late, great James Gandolfini) is. If you’ve never heard of “The Sopranos”, then have a look HERE.
With that brief background sorted, let’s have a closer look at the Waste Management Consultant.

In actual fact, Tony Soprano is a New Jersey mob boss. In a succinct way, let’s just say that in a normal working day, he deals with personal and professional issues in his home and business life that affect his mental state. On occasions, leading him to seek professional, expert psychiatric counseling. His own labelling of his line of work being a Waste Management Consultant, is both inventive and quite descriptive really.
But enough about Tony Soprano and his job title. What about the character who played Tony Soprano? The role was played by the legendary James Gandolfini. He sadly passed away suddenly from a heart attack in 2013 in Rome. He was only 51 years of age.
But what of his connection to Chester? As it happens, he lived in Chester. Regular readers will now know that there is probably a twist to this. Well, a twist….ish. Yes, he lived in Chester, but not Chester here in the UK. He lived in Chester Township in New Jersey in the USA. No arguing though, it’s still Chester.
Historic Farmhouse
As it happens, he bought a historic farmhouse in Chester Township in New Jersey in 2001. After buying the four bedroom home on five acres dating back to the 19th century, he said, “I just like the house.”
He continued to say, “my 2-year-old needs to run a grass a bit.” No arguing with that.
Yet another Chester in the world with interesting stories to tell. I’ll have to try and find out more about Chester Township in New Jersey. It sounds like a place well worth getting more information on.
Waste Management Consultant Is A Famous Chester Celebrities Entrant
So there you have it. Another, worthy addition to my “Famous Chester Celebrities” category. Standing alongside the legendary Popeye the Sailor Man and others.
I must remember to add the Waste Management Consultant to my “Famous People From Chester” page. Is it a tenuous link to our Chester? Maybe so, but as I’ve said on my Famous People From Chester page, my website….my rules!!
No doubt, more entrants will be added in time. So watch this space. In fact, when you think about it, what if we had something like a “Chester International Day?” here in our Chester.
