Support For Ukraine
As the whole world knows, the country and the citizens of Ukraine are currently going through a truly torrid time. As the Russian troops advance deep into the country and continue with their trail of devastation and destruction, Ukrainians are struggling to come to terms with the very basic needs and requirements to stay alive basically. You will also no doubt be aware that there is worldwide support for Ukraine. And rightly so. No surprise whatsoever to see that Chester is also doing its bit.
If the figures are correct, today’s reports say that in the region of 500,000 Ukrainians have fled their homeland looking for safety and refuge. Many of these refugees have exited into neighbouring countries. Like Poland and Hungary.
United Nations have also reported that their long journeys has been made even more traumatic by the freezing temperatures. Furthermore, this has meant families have also been separated. With men of fighting age not allowed to leave Ukraine, this has meant that they have had to leave their wives and children at the border, so that they can take up arms and defend their country.
Support For Ukraine
Individuals and organisations throughout the world are doing what they can to help. Many of those that have fled have had to do so at short notice. To such an extent that they have been unable to collect and take with them any basic supplies. So, one area that we can all help is to donate whatever we can to try and ease the burden.
Take a look at the image below for a brief summary of what we can do, or what we can provide to help.
St Francis Church
You will see in the first paragraph that a collection point in Chester is St Francis Church. In case you didn’t know, St Francis is in Grosvenor Road. On the right hand side as you come out of town, just before the big roundabout. For those that don’t live in Chester, you will also see other drop off locations.
In case you can’t read it too clearly, the St Francis details are: Monday to Friday 10.00am to 2.00pm. There is a phone number as well – 07858 457164.
Let’s all try and do our bit. And if means the only thing you can do is share this message, then please do so. The wider we can spread the word and do our utmost to provide support for Ukraine the better.
Thanks for reading folks. And to repeat it again – PLEASE SHARE.
