Being a huge fan of our amazing, world famous attraction right here on our doorstep, I was very interested to read the following piece of great news. The news relates to a Chester Zoo Funding Boost. And it is a sizeable funding boost – £4m to be more accurate. No doubt the Zoo will put this welcome funding boost to good use. Let’s have a closer look at some of the details relating to this funding award.
Chester Zoo Funding Boost
Chester Zoo Funding Boost
Our world famous, popular, Chester Zoo has just secured their our biggest-ever funding boost. Over £4 million from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. All thanks to players of the National Lottery of course.
This will help the Zoo to work on their expansion plans to make a bigger impact of Networks for Nature. A major conservation partnership restoring wild spaces and reconnecting people with nature across 60 square miles from the River Dee to the River Mersey. This expansion involves working with partners. For instance, working with these local partners will enable the Zoo to:
💧Create or restore 20 new ponds
🌿 Plant 3,000 metres of hedgerow
🌾 Grow 100+ hectares of habitat
🌱 Engage 4,500 students in school-based conservation
🦉 Train 90 young people in environmental leadership
The Zoo are also helping communities to connect with nature, while improving access and wellbeing for all.
You can read about the funding and the plans in much detail in this link here.
Networks for Nature Initiatives Opportunities
The link above provides more specific details on the opportunities available but just a quick mention of how incredible this must be for anyone involved or interested in becoming involved. Just imagine being an enthusiastic school student with plans to make a career in nature initiatives. This funding and what it will bring could open so many doors. It is fantastic news on so many fronts. And so much potential development along the way.
Well done to Chester Zoo for securing the funding. Another positive string to an already very positive bow. And best of luck to all those who embark on any of the many initiatives and opportunities this funding provides.
