Remember The Elderly
Hopefully, this freezing cold weather won’t be with us that much longer. It has been so very, very cold for all of us. But there are some that are more vulnerable than others. So, while the weather is still bad and we are having to cope with sub zero temperatures, please remember others. In particular, remember the elderly.
Remember The Elderly
I was thinking about putting up a photo of myself, but don’t worry about me. I’ll well wrapped up. Joking apart though, if you do know of any neighbours, then why not give them a knock to make sure they are OK, or if they need anything.
I keep in touch with a top character, elderly neighbour of ours. Fascinating fella. I rang him on Thursday to see if he was Ok or if he needed anything. But, as always seems to be the case when I call him, he is either just on his way out or just back from yet another social jaunt. Fair do’s to him he always seem to be on the go. This time he was planning a trip to London. He’s very lucky in that he always someone available to house sit for him for these trips. He does have a really active social life though. Good on him!!
To be fair, I went out earlier today on my pushbike and it wasn’t that bad. He said with tongue firmly in cheek!! My knees were knocking so hard when I got back I thought I’d dislodge my knee cartilages.
We are fairly lucky here though. Other parts of the country always seem to get a lot worse than we do. A good friend of mine in the North-East (are you reading Russ? If so, maybe you’d like to post the short video you sent me the other day), always seems to be on the receiving end of the really bad stuff. As I’m always telling him though, for North-East, read Norway when it comes to weather.
Don’t Forget The Homeless
Of course remember the elderly, but in addition to the elderly, spare a thought for the homeless as well. A hot pie, or a hot drink would be very much appreciated I’m sure. It beggars belief how they survive in these awful conditions.
Wrap up warm and also think about your pets if you have any. Our cats aren’t daft. They know when to batten down the hatches and where to find the warmest spots in the house. Invariably though their preferred places to kip are where we like to sit. Still, we have to abide by the rules. As a sign in our kitchen says, “It’s Our Cats House – We Just Pay The Mortgage”
Anyway, stay warm everyone. Remember the elderly and remember the homeless and your pets. Hopefully we will see warmer days soon. Mind you, after my posting of my “Finally Some Decent Weather” post a few weeks ago, I’m keeping my mouth shut!!!
