The village is built on what was previously farming land and is surrounded by open countryside. Blacon has views across to the city centre of Chester and to the Welsh hills some twenty miles to the west.

At one time Blacon contained one of the largest council housing estates in Europe. But this estate however is now owned, run and maintained by the Sanctuary Group in partnership with Cheshire West & Chester Council.

The Parade Blacon enjoyed an exciting revamp in 2015. As a result, the Parade became The Parade Enterprise Centre. This has now become an exciting new space at the very heart of Blacon.

It replaces some of the old Parade shops and provides exciting opportunities. Now available are high quality, contemporary and cost effective facilities for a wide range of community and family activities. This new centre has been designed with flexibility in mind.
