Visitors to my website may remember previous posts about a series of thrilling novels written by Chester born author, Bryan Lawson. Bryan has written six novels, five of which have been based in and focused on his home city of Chester. He’s recently been in touch with me to tell me about his latest offering. A novel by the name of Blindsight. Bryan has also provided me with a short summary of what this latest novel is all about. So what is this latest novel from Chester born author, Bryan Lawson all about? Read on to find out more.

As Bryan says, “Blindsight takes the reader from the historic city of Chester to the fascinating Dutch town of Delft and the magical island of Bali. Drake discovers that sinister and ruthless forces can exploit these charming places.
The Blindsight Centre combines inventive design with trailblazing research. Its highly secret work has huge commercial potential. Overnight suddenly it is all threatened.
There has been a break-in. Strangely nothing appears to have been stolen but someone has wrecked all the computers. The director, Professor Willem Kuiper cannot be contacted and has mysteriously gone missing.
Detective Chief Inspector Drake and his team soon uncover not one but three possible crimes. Are they related or purely coincidental?
Cue dramatic, almost sinister background music……der….der….derrrrrr!!
The plot thickens, and is to be added to Bryan’s earlier Drake and Hepple plot thickening crime thrillers.
Chester Born Author’s Drake and Hepple Thrillers
As touched on above, this is Bryan’s sixth novel and the fifth focused on our beautiful city. To see more details on all of Bryan’s novels, then head on over to the Bryan Lawson website. Just to confirm the only one that’s not Chester based is Bryan’s second book, Without Trace.
Each book has it’s own enthralling mystery plot(s) enthusiastically investigated by our two heroes, Drake and Hepple. But who are Drake and Hepple? Obviously you will find out more about them if you read the books, but these brief descriptions will give you some sort of background.
DCI Carlton Drake is widely recognised for being as clever as he is tall and clumsy. He resumes duties after a sabbatical, taken for personal reasons, to investigate the diplomatically sensitive case in the first novel, A Degree of Death. By contrast his high-flying young assistant Grace Hepple is stylish but inexperienced. Together they uncover an intriguing mystery.
A potent and powerful male and female investigative force. A modern day Dempsey and Makepeace perhaps? Who knows, maybe a TV drama series beckons?
