How Was Your Weekend?
Well there it was. The Easter weekend came an went in what seemed like a blink of an eye. Weren’t we lucky with the weather though. It was absolutely beautiful wasn’t it. It felt more like summer weather than spring. Who said global warming? Who knows. All I know is that the weather was so very enjoyable. So, how was your weekend?
How Was Your Weekend?
Our Good Friday and Saturday was a time for a bit of work and to just generally chill. Sunday and Monday though we were out and about. I have said on many occasions that we are spoilt in Chester. Yes we can rack our brains for things to do further afield, but we are so very lucky to have so many things to do in Chester right on our doorstep.
As the weather was so beautiful we paid visits down to The Groves. One of my favourite places ever. On Sunday though, we cycled to Saltney first to see the latest addition to the family. My youngest stepson has recently acquired the cutest of kittens. Only about 8 or 9 weeks old, she is a bundle of fur and fun. Eat!!! Eat!!! And boy can she eat!!!
Here she is showing us all her her ability to run amok on the settee. How cute is she?
The Groves, River Dee, Chester
As I said, the sun was blazing, the atmosphere was chilled and to add to the mood, a good live band. In case you weren’t aware, local band, JakLash Cat, are regular performers down by The Groves. With their own brand of Americana music, they are always worth a listen to.
As well as watching them perform on Sunday, you could also buy a copy of their recently released new album, “Promises and Vows”.
If you want to find out more about JakLash Cat, have a look HERE.
Sit and watch the world go by, have a sandwich for lunch, take in the sun and listen to some good music. What’s not to like.
A leisurely amble through Grosvenor Park on the way into town completed the chilled out afternoon.
Easter Monday
Initially we had plans to maybe do something different. But, being locals but doing a “toursisty” thing, we had a walk along The Walls. I always find a walk along The Walls fascinating. And how stunning does the city centre look from an elevated position.
Like homing pigeons, we ended up back down by the river. No JakLash Cat this time but still a great atmosphere and stunning weather. Chill on a bench, a cheeky Magnum ice cream and take it all in. Cue big sighs and distant harp music!!!!
Chester Boat Company
One thing that struck me on Sunday and Monday is the popularity of the Chester Boat trips up and down the river. Their showcase, three popular boats, The Jackie, The Mark Twain and The Lady Diana invariably set sail full, or nearly full. There never seems to be a shortage of punters. It is a very relaxing trip and you can see some marvelous sights.
Cheeky Couple Of Drinks
The day was topped off by enjoying a couple of halves on the way home. Always a good way to end the day.
Something worth mentioning and worth keeping an eye out for. While leaving The Cottage, I noticed some work going on across the road at the old “Spice Balti” restaurant. The “Spice Balti” sign was ripped down to be replaced, no doubt, by the new restaurant owners signage.
Being the inquisitive person I am, I had a closer look. I got speaking to one of the owners, Mark, who informed me that their new restaurant is likely to be opening on 3rd May. Good thinking and good timing – just in time for the first Chester Races meeting.
The restaurant is a fenugreek bar, bistro. You can find out more about this new venture by visiting the Instagram link in the image below. Or, you can call them on the number provided below.
I’ll keep in touch with Mark for more updates, so watch this space.
So, how was your weekend? Chilled, fun packed, or family? Let us know if you would like to. The good thing about such a late Easter this year is that another Bank Holiday is just around the corner. Have you made any plans for that weekend yet? If not, maybe some of the above will give you a few ideas.
