Hoole Community Centre Upcoming Events
Straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Here’s a look ahead of October events and some news of the upcoming Hoole Christmas lights switch on.
This is from Sophie from the Hoole Community Centre:
“Hello everyone!
A couple of things to tell you before I get on to the schedule.
Local councillor Adam Langhan has asked if anyone would be interested in helping to prepare Santa’s Grotto for this years Hoole Xmas Lights switch on. The grotto will be situated on Faulkner Street near the Royal Oak pub and it’s on Saturday 18th November. Please let me know if you’d be interested in helping out. It sounds like it will be good fun!
Also, there are still lots of people yet to pick up their pottery birds. We can’t keep them forever, so if they haven’t been picked up by the end of October then we’ll presume that no one is going to rehome them so please make sure you pick them up before then.
Next week we’ll be doing Prize Bingo! I think that Alan may have mentioned cash bingo but we have decided that Prize Bingo is a better idea. There will be lots of lovely prizes to be won and no extra money to pay.
Hoole Community Centre Upcoming Events Schedule:
11th October – BINGO!
Eyes down! Join Caller Paula for prize bingo. Lots of lovely prizes to be won.
18th October – The Story of Dr. John Haygarth
John Walker join us to present the story of Dr John Haygarth, the 18th century physician who practised at Chester Royal Infirmary between 1766-98 during which period he became internationally renowned for his work on infectious disease such as smallpox and fever.
25th October – ‘WAITING’
Chester-based playwright Gail Young joins us this morning to tell us about her latest work ‘WAITING’ – a story about WW2 and The Blitz which will be staged at Storyhouse in November.
1st November – Christmas Cards (!)
It’s that time of year again! Our own Diana will be leading us in making Christmas cards in plenty of time for the big day.
8th November – Chester Ukes
Gary Blundell and his band of ukulelists will be playing a set of songs that we know and love. Dancing optional but encouraged!
Thanks everyone and we’ll see you next week and beyond!
Sophie”
Plenty Going On
As you can all see, there’s plenty going on as ever. And not only that. From my website’s point of view, another possible couple of candidates for my “Famous People From Chester” page. Aside from the above upcoming events, there are plenty of other activities going on as I mentioned. To find out more, just have a look at the Hoole Community Centre website. On the website there is also some mention of volunteering if that takes your fancy. Anyway, you know where to look and where to go.
