Finally Some Decent Weather
Whoa, hold the back page!! Finally some decent weather. Don’t shout it yet though, we don’t want to curse it and bring on the awful rainfalls again. I recently completed a three week work stint in Hoylake. I went by train and every day I was faced with walking to Chester station in the pouring rain to catch the 7am train. Coming home, exactly the same. A walk to Hoylake station in the pouring rain and howling winds. Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but we never seem to have such a run of consecutive nice weather days in the summer do we? Talk about Groundhog Day.
Really depressing weather. Not sure what effect horrible weather has on our psyche. I’ll have to ask David Jamieson to write us an article on it. It was the first time I’d been to Hoylake by the way. Only on my second to last day there did I actually lift my head on my walk to the office. It was always that windy and wet when I stepped off the train I just kept my head down while walking to the office. There is quite a bit going on actually. Might be worth a visit in the spring or summer.
Finally Some Decent Weather
As I said, finally some decent weather. When we do have decent weather Chester is a magnificent place to live in isn’t it. There are so many places to see and visit. Like so many Chester residents one of my favourite places to spend time is at The Groves by the bandstand. Cycle through the park (er…I mean walk through the park as cycling is not permitted apparently in the park) and take up a seat watching the world and the boats go by. Very relaxing and inviting.
And what of the Park itself? What a beautiful, serene place to spend some quality chilling out time. I’ve always felt that the Park is underutilised. Hopefully there will be some notable activities scheduled for this spring and summer. Even so, a walk through the Park is always worth a trip.
And of course we can’t forget our fabulous Zoo. A spring or a summer would not be complete if we didn’t visit our iconic, worldwide attraction. Just in case you haven’t already read my other Chester Zoo posts, you can read them HERE and HERE.
On the sporting front, why not pop along and see Chester FC between now and the end of the season. A day at Chester Races needs no introduction really. No doubt, thousands will converge on the Roodee for the various meetings from May onwards.
Why not take a leisurely stroll along our historic walls? You can stop off at a pub or two alone the way. Talking of which…..
Support Your Local Pub
It is such a shame to see more and more pubs closing. The Lock Vaults by the canal in Hoole seems to be the latest casualty. As the weather improves why not pop along to your local pub. If they have a beer garden, what better way to while away an early evening with a couple of snifters before your evening meal.
Today has given us the opportunity to say we have finally seen some decent weather. Let us hope it continues next week. Obviously as we get further into March and April, the weather will improve, but let’s hope the winter doesn’t return to give us a final blast.
Over the coming weeks and months I will be highlighting some up and coming events in and around Chester area. But sure to pop back and have a look at these postings. If you are aware of any events, or are arranging any of your own. then why not drop me a line and I will post the details on here. The more coverage the better I say.
Well today’s showing of finally some decent weather has prompted me to venture out for a couple of early doors. You can’t beat a couple of early doors in our beautiful city of Chester. I hope you are enjoy the rest of your weekend. If the weather is good tomorrow, then why not get out and about? If by any chance you see a fluorescent yellow blur bombing along on a bicycle, then please drive carefully past.
Speak soon folks.
