Dylan Edge Special Send Off
What a little hero and what an inspiration. Young Dylan Edge from Blacon lost his battle against a rare chromosomal disorder when he passed away on 22nd August at Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool. He was nine years of age. His mother, Claire, described young Dylan as a “legend”. Carry on reading and you will understand why. And just to let you know, on Monday 9th September there is a Dylan Edge special send off happening beginning at 1:30pm at Holy Trinity Church in Blacon.
Before finding out more about his send off, just have a read about this incredible young man.
Dylan Edge Special Send Off
Doctors described Dylan’s rare illness as being “incompatible with life”. Despite this, did his illness prevent young Dylan enjoying his short nine years to the the full? Not in the slightest.
Defying medics prognosis, Dylan however went on to enjoy a string of adventures that most of us don’t get around to attempting. Here’s just a few of the exciting and fun-filled adventures Dylan got up to.
He scaled the steps to Tintagel Castle in Cornwall while on a family holiday a couple of years ago. Not only that, in addition he enjoyed body-boarding, travelling on a speed boat and stood on Lands End. He also went on an aeroplane ride across North Wales and helped to drive a steam train on its journey to Holyhead.
That is some going isn’t it. I haven’t done any of those things, so what a great effort by Dylan. And some brilliant memories to cherish and treasure no doubt. Above all the setbacks, Dylan made the most of his life.
Dylan Edge The Legend
Dylan was born with a rare disease called Pataus’ Syndrome. It is a disorder that left him with three major heart conditions. Not only that, he also had epilepsy and he suffered a stroke when he was born. At times, Dylan would suffer 50 seizures in a day.
These issues meant that in the main Dylan had to be tube fed for most of his life. But he did get to enjoy an ice-cream now and then and he was also partial to a good old cup of tea.
However, did Dylan let these setbacks prevent him enjoying life? Not at all. He went on to learn how to ride a trike, enjoyed bouncing up and down on bouncy castles, tackling climbing frames and he even went horse riding.
As his mother, Claire, says, “he never let anything stop him and he did everything with a smile on his face”
Tributes To A Real Star
In addition, Claire also mentioned that she and her family – which includes partner Neil, Dylan’s father Stuart and brothers and sisters, Chloe, Alfie, Jessica, Madison and Lily – have been blown away by all the messages they have received. Not only from local well wishers either. Tributes have poured in from all over the world for this special young man.
Claire says that these messages have brought her calm and she thanks all those who sent messages. These messages and memories will ensure Dylan will always be remembered for the impact he made in such a short life.
