Chester Pubs
I’m not sure why I didn’t get one before now, but tonight I’ll be breaking new ground. Well, I say tonight, in about another hour and a half actually. A cheeky little early doors with a good friend of mine to see in the weekend. So, what is it I’ve got that I didn’t have before? A CAMRA membership, that’s what. Look out Chester pubs, I’m joining the ranks of the chin strokers and I’ll be pacing up and down looking at the clips on the pumps taking ages to decide what I want.
“Can I just try a taste of that?”
“Oh, and what about a snifter of that?”
“Which brewery is this from?”
“What strength is that?”
And so on…
In the meantime getting dirty looks from those still waiting who know exactly what they want.
“Excuse me mate, all I want is half a Carling”
“Go on then serve him first as he only wants a soft drink”……only joking!!!
Not to worry though. Not at all. I won’t be that pain in the proverbial monopolising a member of the bar staff for five minutes plus. I know what it’s like to be waiting behind these connoisseurs of everything ‘hoppy’. A total nightmare. I’ll see what I like and just order it without the fanfare.
Having said that though, I am looking forward to flashing my sparkling new CAMRA membership card and enjoying the benefits of all that membership entails.
So, which pubs accept CAMRA memberships – and more importantly, offer a discount.
Chester Pubs
Well the answer to that is, I’m not sure. As a regular, I know the Cottage do. A cracking pub with a good selection of cask ales. But I’m not starting in there tonight. First port of call is to be another cracking cask ale pub, The Shropshire by the Town Hall.
Popping in the Shropshire will be a good way to avoid the Christmas Market shoppers as well.
But what other Chester pubs accept CAMRA cards? If you know, then please drop me a line. In the meantime I will be systematically dropping into a few and seeing if I’m allowed to flash this particular type of plastic. Eeee, I’ll be like a kid in a sweet shop!!!
I hope The Saddle does as I wouldn’t mind popping in there later for a warble on the karaoke!!
I’ll write you an update next week to let you know which of the Chester pubs I visited welcomed my CAMRA membership.
Must dash. I won’t have time to grow a beard but I do need to get showered and changed.
Speak soon.
Have a great Friday night everyone.
