A Few Local Updates
I’ve had a few local updates snippets sent to me by regular website visitor, John from Blacon. As ever, thanks for the information John. Rather than post them all separately, I thought I’d pop them all in this one post for simplicity and expediency. Have a read of them, some interesting stuff in these topics.
Before I get into the detail of them, I must say, it is good to see more and more events etc happening. Is it another sign that things are, slowly but surely, getting back to normal? Let’s hope so.
Anyway, onto the matter in hand and let’s elaborate and have a look at “a few local updates.”
A Few Local Updates
Maybe some of you are thinking that the image above is a strange image for a few local updates article. Ah, not so, is my response. Which, conveniently takes us onto our first update topic. And that is the Chester Standard’s new Camera Club. The Chester Standard have just released news of a proposed, local Camera Club.
Hmm…..shall I join? The image above is one I took on a recent sunny, Sunday afternoon while walking into town. I do take photos myself quite often. Always on the lookout for any possible suitable images for blog posts and that sort of thing. I have a few animated images as well that (I think) look quite effective. Anyway, that explains the image above. But what about the Camera Club? Here’s a bit of a snippet of what it’s all about as sent to me by John.
Oh, and by the way……no nicking my photos.
A Few Local Updates – Local Camera Club
Have a read of this……
“OUR borough is packed with beauty spots and views worth capturing on camera. And now we want you to start sending in your picture perfect snaps for us to showcase each week in The Standard. We are officially launching our Camera Club this month, and we would like you to get involved. Join the Chester Standard Camera Club on Facebook and showcase your best photos of the local area.
We’ll be selecting the best each week to promote on the main Chester Standard Facebook page, on our website, and in print in our new dedicated Camera Club page, appearing each Thursday.”

OK, what’s next?
Merseyside Man Tackling Gruelling Charity Challenge
Any news of any local charity fund raising exploits is always worth a special mention. Here’s a short explanation of what Chris Coan from Merseyside is taking on:
“A MAN is hoping to raise tens of thousands of pounds for a local charity and hospice through a gruelling challenge. Chris Coan, from Merseyside, will be taking part in a major three-day fund-raising challenge covering Chester and North Wales next month in aid of two charities.
He hopes to raise £60,000 which will be divided between Nightingale House Hospice and Nicola’s Fund – set up by 15-year-old Nicola Riley, from Chester, before her death from a brain tumour to support other children with cancer.”
Again, you can see the full details HERE.
Without doubt, a well worthy cause. Well done Chris – a great effort. I’ll write a blog post about it after Chris has completed his 3 day challenge. He starts on the 24th September by the way.
Those who would like to participate locally, or virtually, can subscribe on the Nicola’s Fund event page by clicking here. https://www.nicolasfund.co.uk/event-details/amity-3-day-charity-challenge.
And finally for now in this brief updates post,
