Hold Your Plums!!! What’s that all about? No, that’s not some sort of medical advice in these troubled times as far as I’m aware. Although you never know!! Everything is so new and alien at the moment and things seem to be changing by the hour. It may work. I might even try it myself. Now, where’s our fruit basket?

Hold Your Plums-Listen And Have A Laugh

In case you haven’t heard any of Hold Your Plums it is worth mentioning that it was funny. Very funny!! I think in these worrying times a bit of humour to cheer us up a bit may be a small tonic we could all do with.

Actually, for those that don’t know, Hold Your Plums was a Radio Merseyside fun, quiz phone-in that used to be played mainly on a Sunday lunchtime for over a decade. The programme was presented by Billy Butler and Wally Scott. And in a very regular, typical Merseyside trait, one was a Red (Wally) and the other (Billy) was a Blue.

So, with that in mind I will show a few Hold Your Plums clips below. Some of their classics if you like.

It was well loved by many and it became a Radio Merseyside institution. It was loved by people like Peter Kay and even merited a mention on Parkinson. Hold Your Plums was the quiz of common sense……ish!!

All of the clips are of genuine contestants, and yes they really don’t know what the answers are…

Anyway, I’ll post a few clips below for you to have a listen to. It might be worth grabbing a brew and settling back for the next 30+ minutes or so.
