Visa Scam Calls
Another very useful, informative safety message sent to me by one of my much valued visitors, John from Blacon. Fair do’s to John he’s on the ball when it comes to keeping us up to date with all the latest scam alerts and warnings. This one is in regard to Visa Scam Calls. And again it comes as another vital Cheshire Police Alert message.
Have a read of the article John sent me below.
Visa Scam Calls
Having received one of these calls yesterday, I wanted to make you all aware of the Visa Scam that is circulating via an automated call. Reports of the ‘newer’ version of this scam appear to vary, with some saying that two fraudulent calls are received – one from the fake fraud department, and another from the ‘police’.
Meanwhile, others are reporting an automated call in which you’re prompted to ‘press 1’ if you did not authorise the claimed transaction. This figure has been consistently reported here as £600.
If you receive an unsolicited call like this and are unsure if it’s legitimate, always check with your bank via its official contact channels instead of following any instructions. Calls can also be reported to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040, or via its online reporting tool: https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/reporting-fraud-and-cyber-crime

Visa Scam – Another To Add To The List
When will all these scams end? The short answer is, they probably won’t. After this latest Visa Scam warning there will no doubt be others. Being a bit naive no doubt but an honest, good-willed person will no doubt be asking how do these people who operate these scams live with themselves and actually sleep at night.
But the answer to that leads to another problem in itself. These scammers don’t have a conscience. They are not honest, good-willed individuals. This is clearly obvious of course.
All we can do is to remain as vigilant as we can. For my part I will continue to report these scam alerts and safety messages very kindly provided by John more often than not. These alerts are not specifically related to Chester people only but no doubt it will affect so many people up and down the country.
But it is worth considering going that extra mile. Make people aware of these scams. This latest Visa Scam is simple enough to explain and pass the message on. So, where we can, spread the word.
Thanks again John – much appreciated.
