Things To Do This Bank Holiday
Well, here it is. The last Bank Holiday weekend before Christmas. How quick has it gone since the batch of Bank Holiday weekends in April and May!! Too quick. So, things to do this weekend. What have we got? Whisper it for now and don’t jinx it but……and it’s a big but….the weather forecast is good. So, what’s to do and what about some ideas for things to do this Bank Holiday weekend.
Of course, decent weather is always a bonus. A big bonus. I wouldn’t want to see anywhere in the country suffer bad weather if we’re basking in sun, but the way our cricket team is shaping up it’s only the weather that can save us. How poor are England!! Anyway, I digress.
Things To Do This Bank Holiday
First off, don’t watch the cricket. Unless you are Australian of course. In our beautiful city we already have a plethora (great word that isn’t it…..plethora!!) of brilliant things to do. And excellent places to visit.
Need convincing? Then head off over to HERE for a few suggestions. And, as regular as clockwork, I’m going to mention our world famous Chester Zoo again aren’t I. Always a great day out. In the unlikely event you don’t know about our world famous Zoo, you can find out more HERE.
Things To Do This Bank Holiday – What Else Is There To Do?
Like most Bank Holidays there are a variety of one-off events to interest us. Like what you may ask?
For instance, this caught my eye yesterday. A lego shark exhibition at Chester Cathedral. This looks really exciting and different to say the least. For more information of what it’s all about, head off over to HERE.
This looks like a great option to consider for this weekend.
Meanwhile over in Hoole……
Things To This Bank Holiday – For Gin and Rum Enthusiasts
Now this looks a winner all ends up. A gin and rum extravaganza is being held at Hoole Community Centre, tomorrow (Saturday 24th August).
While you’re enjoying your tipple, you will also be able to enjoy live music, BBQ and beers! It just gets better and better doesn’t it!!!
It’s not often we get to mention the “F” word either when mentioning such events. But yes, entry to the Hoole Community Centre courtyard is FREE!!!
You can though pop into the Community Hall itself though and see the vast array of different rums and gins available. There are more than 80 different rums and more than 60 gins for you to have a taste of.
This ain’t a free entry to the Hall though. Entry is £20 per person, but for that £20 you do get to try as many as you want. All you can drink rum and gin for £20!!! That sounds well reasonable. In fact it reminds me of my last blog post – what’s not to like!!
But I hate to be a party pooper though. Don’t get too carried away. Drink sensibly.
It’s Not All Gin and Rum Either
When you’ve sampled enough rum and gin, you can also enjoy a beer if you wish. Beer Heroes tap room & bottle shop will be on hand to cater for all your craft beer needs.
Looks like a strong candidate to include in your “things to do this Bank Holiday” calendar.
Oh, final mention on this event. It’s family friendly.
Don’t Forget Our Local Pubs and Eating Places
No doubt many of our local pubs and eating places will be hosting their very own Bank Holiday weekend special events, or special menus. Keep a look out if you’re wandering around town over the weekend, or out and about elsewhere locally.
A cheeky half or two sat outside at the Bawn Lodge in Hoole maybe. Sit alongside the canal and watch the barges go by outside the Lock keeper? Prefer staying indoors? Then why not belt out a few numbers at The Oddie’s karaoke on Sunday afternoon.
Anyway, must go. I’m off to catch “early doors” – Speak soon!!!
These are only a few examples of things to do this Bank Holiday weekend. Whatever it is you decide to do, have a good ‘un.
