Well, this exciting, upcoming event could be in Rotterdam, Liverpool, or Rome. But it’s non of those. In fact, apparently it could be anywhere for that matter. But it’s not just anywhere either. No siree!!! The place to be to witness this special night is Chester!! To be exact, The Live Rooms, Station Road. The South at Chester Live Rooms is worth noting in your diaries.

When is this happening? On Friday, 19th July 2019 that’s when. So make “A Little Time” on the 19th and get yourself along to The Live Rooms. Judge for yourself how good The South are. While you’re at it, why not give them marks out of ten? You never know, you may like them that much that you give them a “Perfect 10”.

The South At Chester Live Rooms Celebrating Their 10th Anniversary
“THE SOUTH (featuring members of The Beautiful South) play CHESTER – Live Rooms on Friday 19th July 2019!
To celebrate their 10th year anniversary and 30 years since The Beautiful South released ‘Song For Whoever’, The South are back this Summer, with a 2019 UK Tour playing shows up and down the whole of the UK.
The South are an impressive 9 piece band who feature former members of The Beautiful South including singer Alison Wheeler and lifelong sax player Gaz Birtles.
Since Dave Hemingway, the original singer, left the group at the end of 2016, Gaz has moved across to front the band with Alison and taken on vocal duties.
They play the songs made famous by The Beautiful South and bring back the full flavour and arrangements with this exciting live band.
After a successful year of touring the theatres and festivals of the UK up and down the country, The South are keeping alive all those timeless songs – ‘A Little Time‘ (the number one single), ‘Perfect 10‘, ‘Rotterdam‘, ‘Song For Whoever‘, ‘Old Red Eyes Is Back‘, ‘Good as Gold‘, ‘Don’t Marry Her‘ plus many more singles and album tracks as well as a few choice South originals.
All performed again live, these songs span an impressive 20 year career starting way back in 1989!

Where Is The Live Rooms?
Glad you asked. Chester residents no doubt will know exactly where it is. But just in case you’re not from Chester, it couldn’t be easier to find.
Quite simply, the best option is to travel by train. Walk out the railway station, cross the road and turn right. About 200 yards on the left is “The Live Rooms” – couldn’t be simpler.
What About A Bite To Eat Or A Bevvy Before?
Again, I’m glad you asked. As I said above, cross the road after leaving the station and right opposite is a food pub called “The Town Crier”. Good pub food (I recommend one of their dishes they call The Plank) and a really good pint of Green King IPA. Sorted.
There are other notable watering holes nearby. The Deva Tap on Hoole Bridge (about 2 minutes walk from The Live Rooms), The Egerton and The Olde Cottage (about 5 minutes walk from The Live Rooms) in Brook Street, to name just three.
The Olde Cottage in particular is a really popular “proper pub” serving a wide array of fine cask ales. You could say, the ale is as “Good As Gold”…..stop, stop….what have I said about song puns!!!
Getting The South At Chester Live Rooms is quite a coup, so as I say folks, make a note in your diary.
