The Countess Of Chester Hospital
Anyone reading last week will have seen my 70th Happy Birthday NHS post. If you didn’t see it, you can read it HERE. The post was not a general birthday greeting as such but more of a Happy Birthday to the Countess of Chester Hospital. In it I was very complimentary of the services and the work carried out by the Countess. I really don’t think there is enough coverage at times for the work everyone carries out at the Trust. And I mean everyone. You name it, surgeons, consultants, doctors, nurses, admin and clerical staff, cleaners, volunteers, catering et al. All of them deserve a huge pat on the back.
The Countess Of Chester Hospital
My admiration for all the work carried out by all at the Countess of Chester Hospital is not by any means a one man crusade. I noticed recently that the Countess has received a written seal of approval. There can’t be many higher accolades to receive than that. Another satisfied patient took the trouble to write to the Queen herself after the care she received for a recent illness.
Grandmother, Betty Walker, 80, was so impressed with the care she received after being diagnosed with cancer. With the help of her granddaughter, Lucy, she wrote to the Queen after she announced, “if I could tell the Queen I would”.
The letter was posted on the same day the Queen and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, opened the Storyhouse. It would be understandable if that letter disappeared into a black hole so to speak. A reply would have been hoped but not expected.
But, surprise, surprise, Betty’s letter and the work carried out by the hospital staff was recognised. The response to Betty’s letter arrived last week. It was from the Queen’s Lady-In-Waiting. Fair do’s it does go to show that the general public are recognised and valued by our Royal Family.
Betty, along with her daughter Jayne, surprised staff at the Countess of Chester Hospital by taking the letter along with them when Betty returned to the hospital for chemotherapy treatment recently.
A Proud Moment
Betty was expansive in her praise. As she said, “everyone from kitchens right through the different wards I’ve been on has been amazing”
It is indeed a proud moment for Betty and of course all those involved at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Well done to the Countess and Betty and, of course, get well soon Betty. Great to see recognition being identified and highlighted where appropriate.
Fantastic effort everyone.
