Liverpool Debut For Chester Born Youngster
We all grow up having dreams don’t we. Some are lucky to live out their dream. And if your dream is to play for your favourite footie team, then that is so very special. What an achievement then, a Liverpool debut for Chester born youngster. It isn’t the first time this has happened of course, as a certain Michael Owen achieved the same against Wimbledon back in the 90’s. Although, wouldn’t his boyhood dream have been to star for Everton? Nevertheless, he also achieved a Liverpool debut. And he scored on his debut. As did the youngster this post is all about. Take a bow young Lewis Koumas.
Liverpool Debut For Chester Born Youngster
Indeed, take a bow Lewis Koumas. Not only a Liverpool debut at the tender age of 18, but a debut goal as well. Exactly what dreams are made of. No doubt his family will be well chuffed with his efforts. Maybe more so his Dad. Why so? Because as it happens, his Dad, Jason Koumas was also a professional footballer. Like father like son.
Although unlike Lewis, father Jason didn’t play for Liverpool, although he was at Liverpool Academy for several years. He did however have a long career at a variety of clubs and also played international football for Wales.
A Quick Summary of Jason’s Career
Jason Koumas, a former professional footballer and a fine midfield player who played for Tranmere Rovers, Cardiff City, West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic, as well as the Welsh national team. He spent nine years in the Liverpool academy before joining Tranmere at eighteen.
I remember him more from his Tranmere Rovers days.
With regard to his lad, Lewis, though, what must have it felt like to get the nod, so to speak from Jurgen Klopp. A nod, words of encouragement and a hug no doubt from Liverpool FC’s charismatic manager. That in itself would lift and inspire many a youngster.
Lewis’s debut came against Southampton in an FA Cup tie at Anfield. In case you didn’t see it, here’s his debut goal:
Well done Lewis, let’s hope it’s the first of many. The big question is though, which is the greater achievement? Either a debut goal at Anfield for your boyhood team? Or, an inclusion in the prestigious Famous Chester Celebrities category? Hmm……I’ll bet that’s a difficult one to decide!! Ahem…..isn’t it Lewis!!
Just to explain the “Famous Chester Celebrities” category. This is a spin off from the “Famous People From Chester” page. I found that the page was getting bigger and bigger and getting more difficult to navigate around. The category actually provides a separate link to all celebrities. Just goes to show, how many celebrities or other famous people in or from Chester.
