As you will now no doubt know, we are in another lockdown. A delicate situation, to say the least, on so many fronts. Not least for local small business owners. Such difficult times without a doubt. As if running a business isn’t difficult enough during more normal times as it is. The Government and other organisations are constantly having to roll out more schemes and offers of support. It is a constantly changing landscape. On that note, here’s the latest business funding support news.
Latest Business Funding And Support News
All of the links and information available have been provided by our local Cheshire and Warrington Growth Hub, in conjunction with local business support company, Blue Orchid.
Some of the support schemes have already been mentioned on here. But, let’s summarise the latest business funding and support news currently available.
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme
“Following the announcement earlier in the week that The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme would run until the end of the month. Yesterday it was confirmed the scheme will now run until the end of March.
- Employees will receive 80% of their current salary for hours not worked.
- There are currently no employer contributions to wages for hours not worked. Employers will only be asked to cover National Insurance and employer pension contributions for hours not worked.
- Claims can be made from 8am Wednesday 11 November

Self Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS)
Similarly with the Self Employment Income Support Scheme:
- The third grant which covers November to January will be calculated at 80% of average trading profits.
- The window for claiming a grant will open on 30 November.

Government Grants
To support businesses that have had to close because of the national restrictions from the 5th November – 2nd December, the government have announced the following grants:
Local authorities are working on creating schemes to deliver funds to businesses through two other grant schemes:
Localised Restrictions Support Grant (Open)
For the time-period businesses spent in tier 2 (Cheshire East and Cheshire West and Chester).
Additional Restrictions Grant
Discretionary grants that can be paid to businesses that are severely impacted rather than closed and can also be used for other direct business support at the discretion of the local authority (Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester and Warrington).
These grants will be issued by the local authorities and we will provide application details when available.
Local Grants
There are two local grant schemes that will be opening for applications again shortly.
Cheshire and Warrington Restructure Grant
- Funding up to 80% to a maximum of £5,000.
- For capital items to help businesses continue trading through the Covid-19 outbreak post December 2nd.
- The second round will open on Monday 9th November at midday.

Cheshire and Warrington Recovery Consultancy Grant
- Funding up to 100% up to £5,000.
- For consultancy support in a wide range of specialisms to assist businesses in their recovery efforts.
- The third round will open on Monday 30th November at midday.
