Hoole Christmas Lights Switch On
Sunday 19th November 2017 is a date to definitely put into your diary. This is when we get to enjoy one of the highlights of the year. The Hoole Christmas Lights Switch On. Normally held on the corresponding Saturday each year, take careful note, this year it is on the Sunday.
In case you didn’t know, it is happening on Faulkner Street and Charles Street. Each and every year the event is so popular, so you may want to get there early. Hopefully you can make out the times on the poster, but if not, the day unfolds as follows:
Hoole Christmas Lights Switch On Timetable

Hoole Christmas Lights Switch On
If this year is anything to go by, and I’m sure it will be, there will be a few thousand packing out Faulkner and Charles Streets. Not only the streets either. The pubs and restaurants and any shops that open will benefit from the numbers attending.
I remember talking to one of the pub landlord’s last year and he estimated that there were in the region of 2,500 to 3,000 in attendance. That is an incredible number and is obviously a testament as to how popular the event is. And also a great credit to the people of Hoole and surrounding areas that turn up.
Christmas Market
I’m not sure which stalls are in attendance this year, but if they are in the main the same stalls we saw at the recent Hoole Festival, then we will see a wide variety of good quality fayre. A good time to start your Christmas shopping perhaps?
If any of the stallholders would like to make us all aware of any special offers they will be offering on the day in advance, then they can contact me at admin@chesterlifestyle.com
Live Music
This year we will be treated to live music by local musicians Jonny Daniel, Joe Hampton and Ben Stafford. Hopefully I will get chance to speak to them to see if they would like to contribute to my upcoming “Chester Music Scene” section.
If you haven’t seen these performers before then you can find out what to expect here.
Ben Stafford
Here’s Ben performing the timeless Jackson’s Five classic – “I Want You Back”
Really showing my age when I say I well remember the original.
Joe Hampton
Joe’s repertoire is extensive and his music ranges decades. For instance you can hear Joe singing anything from Simon & Garfunkel to Crowded House. You will still hear everything you love about the original, but Joe will also put his own slightly folky, slightly ‘bluesey’ style into it.
Here’s a short video of Joe performing an all time classic – The Doors, Riders On The Storm
And last but not least…..
Jonny Daniel
Here’s Daniel performing a track from one of my favourite bands – Journey (and one of my favourite Karaoke offerings!!) – Don’t Stop Believing…..Listening to Jonny’s delivery I may need to stick to my Neil Diamond renditions!!!
Consider This
If you are going to attend the Hoole Christmas Lights Switch On you should consider this.
As it will be so very busy, you may wish to book a table if you are thinking having food. This applies to the pubs as well as the restaurants. You may however choose to have food from one of the many stalls present on the day.
Very Important!!!
Fireworks will be set off at around 6pm. So, remember your pets!!! Make sure they are safe. Here’s a short video with a few safety tips….
Finally
I hope you have a really enjoyable time at the Hoole Christmas Lights Switch On. It really is an event worth attending and truly sets the tone for the build up to the Christmas period.
