Happy Birthday NHS
As it happens there is plenty of focus on the NHS in Chester at the moment. For the purpose of this post I will put that to one side as there is plenty of news in the national news at the moment regarding the recent events. In a week of anticipated celebration it was a shock however to hear such news. Anyway, as I say, let’s focus on a positive. Happy Birthday NHS. Seventy years young this week – tomorrow 5th July in fact.
Happy Birthday NHS
The intention of this article is not necessarily to pass comment on the NHS generally. But more specifically it is to pass on a Happy Birthday NHS message to the Countess of Chester. I know the Countess hasn’t been around for all of the seventy years but nevertheless it has played a huge part locally in the health and welfare of residents in Chester and surrounding areas.
It has certainly played a huge part in my life over the last several years. And that is one reason to give a big Happy Birthday NHS tribute to the Countess. Speaking from the experience of being a regular in-patient and out-patient over recent years I would like to say a big thanks to all who have prodded me, needled me, operated on me and, more importantly, looked after me.
I’ve been so often I’m amazed I don’t get asked to any of the Christmas do’s. If you got Air Miles for every visit, I’d have my passport permanently in my pocket!!!
Not Perfect But….
Of course they are not perfect but, like all NHS Trusts, they do operate under immense pressure and have to cope with very stringent financial constraints. Putting aside any political thoughts or statements on this, the service provided is even more incredible given the conditions they have to operate under.
During one of my “guest visits” one of the nurses on the Ward I was on lived on Merseyside. Quite often she was still there at 10pm at night after her 8am start. Leaving at around 10.30pm to catch two trains home, she was just as chirpy then as she was at 8am in the morning. As she was the next morning at 8am. If she, and so many others like her, was a waitress in a restaurant, her pockets would have been bulging with tips. And rightly so.
Dedication and Professionalism
No moaning. No groaning from any of the nursing staff in my experiences. Just a sheer dedicated approach with a huge dose of professionalism.
Not only the nurses either. Professionalism and dedication all round. There may well be others who do not have the same opinion as I have of the Countess. Of course, everyone’s own experiences will dictate that. But, as I say, my own experiences ensure I see the Countess in a positive light.
A big “thank you” to you all for all your efforts and dedication.
And a Happy Birthday NHS greeting to you all as well.
