Get Safe Online Campaign
Guess what? People (not very nice people) are still trying to scam us. To cheat us and to steal from us. How do some people sleep at night!!! Never fear though, our super sleuth, John from Blacon, keeps us ahead of the game. This time he has furnished me with information of a “Get Safe Online” campaign that is being supported by Cheshire Police.
Many thanks yet again John – we really must up and have that pint!!!
Anyway, on to the article itself. As ever, take heed and wherever possible, spread the word. Some day, just some day, these scams will all come to an end. We can hope can’t we as unlikely as it is.

Get Safe Online Campaign – Supported By Cheshire Police
Here we go with a bit of background. Get Safe Online is an extremely informative site set up to benefit many people who may be less familiar with the various internet crimes.
The site advises both the young and the elderly. It may be said that elderly are possibly less computer-literate when it comes to recognising and dealing with the variety of endless online crimes we are all confronted with these days.
These crimes apply equally to all cities and towns across the UK. Of which Chester is one of them. I trust the information contained within this particular source will be of major benefit to many locals.

Every conceivable topic is included on the site. Including safe online shopping, gaming and dating. So now you really can stay safe with everything you do online.
The site also keeps you up to date with news, tips and stories from around the world.
More Than Just A Website
Get Safe Online is not only a website, however, as we also organise national events – such as Get Safe Online week – and work closely with law enforcement agencies and other bodies in support of their outreach activity, internal awareness and customer online safety.
Get Safe Online is a public / private sector partnership supported by HM Government and leading organisations in banking, retail, internet security and other sectors.
We are a Cyber Essentials and IASME certified organisation. IASME (pronounced I-ASME) is an information assurance standard that is particularly suitable for Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
It was originally developed as an academic-SME partnership and has been attracting interest among decision-makers within the UK small business community. https://www.getsafeonline.org/

Chester Crimewatch
Another extremely useful article for the Chester Crimewatch archive. It will be bursting at the seams soon. But, no matter how many posts there are in this category, they need to be mentioned and brought to people’s attention.
