There’s so many of these Cheshire Police Alerts coming through that I may have to pool them all together and make the one weekly post. Sadly, it seems that since the advent of the coronavirus, scamming activities seem to be on the increase. If not on the increase then it seems that they haven’t relented in any significant way. Anyway, this latest one is referring to the five C’s phishing scams alerts. Read on to find out more.

Five C’s Phishing Scams

Here’s the article from Cheshire Police that has been sent to me.

“We’re living in a world where we are rapidly becoming more and more reliant on digital technology, having to adapt quickly to the many daily tasks we do. Almost nine out of 10 of us use the internet every day on either smartphones, tablets or mobiles.

We’re not the only ones embracing new technology. It’s not gone unnoticed by the criminal fraternity and organised crime groups, who are also adapting how they operate.

Cybercrime now accounts for almost half of all recorded crime. It can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, job or location – it’s probably not a case of ‘if it will happen to you’ but ‘when it will happen to you’.

More than 80 per cent of known cyber attacks can be avoided by following five simple rules. We’ve called them the 5 Cs. This will help you with your online safety and security.

Thanks for reading this latest “The Five C’s Phishing Scams.” It’s another very useful and very informative article.

I’ve highlighted a phrase above in the article. And to be honest, it surprised me when I read it. The announcement that “Cybercrime now accounts for almost half of all recorded crime” is quite staggering really when you think.

This only goes to stress the importance of these type of updates. The problem is widespread. Probably even more widespread than we realise. So, let me ask again. Please spread the word wherever you can. Thanks.
