Fake TV Licence Email
Fake TV Licence Email
Our intrepid, local super sleuth, John from Blacon has been his usual ultra helpful with providing us with any very worthwhile scam warning. This time it is about a fake TV licence email. John received his a few days ago – 11th January. So it seems to be very current and is probably still doing the rounds.
Thanks again John for your vigilance and for sharing this message. Anyway, here’s the fake TV licence email details received by John.
Fake TV Licence Email
“I received an email today, allegedly from TV Licensing, a copy of which is attached in this post and which read:
Dear “Me” , Renew your licence before it expires on 12/01/2019 to remain legally licensed. TVL could not be automatically renewed. If you will not update your information , the service provided by TV Licensing may be interrupted. Visit TV Licensing Official Website Now
Thanks for being a TVL customer.
Darren Carlile, Head of Customer Operations “
As John warns us:
SHOULD YOU RECEIVE SUCH A PHISHING EMAIL, DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINK CONTAINED WITHIN IT. NOR VISIT ANY SITE REFERRED TO IN THE EMAIL.
No doubt the New Year will continue with so many of these scams unabated. It goes without saying, be extra, extra careful and spread the word of these awful messages as far and wide as you can.
Where will it all end? Sadly, they probably won’t unfortunately. But as far as possible we should all do our bit in a way that John does and, as I say, spread the word.
As well as this fake TV licence email I am sure John will be providing us with many more useful warnings during 2019. Thanks again, John.
