Chester Zoo Visits This Summer
This last 16 months or so has been a very strange and trying period for all of us hasn’t it. Our world has been turned upside down it seems. So many sacrifices have had to be made. Let’s not forget that it has also been so very chaotic for organisations, including businesses and some of our local attractions. Local attractions like our prize winning, world famous Chester Zoo. I must admit, we’ve missed our regular trips to Chester Zoo. So, it’s great to see things returning sort of back to normal for the Zoo. And, as we are now in summer holiday season and if we are thinking about any Chester Zoo visits this summer, then what can we expect?
Chester Zoo Visits This Summer
I think it’s fair to say, that a ‘normal’, day trip out to Chester Zoo is an interesting and exciting event in its own right. But, when there are other special events or occasions to be aware of, it makes the visit that bit more special.
We all know the excellent work that the Zoo carries out in the many conservation projects they are involved in. So many important births have been reported over so many years. And this special, recent birth is the latest addition to the incredible work by our Zoo.
One of the world’s most endangered primates has been born at the Zoo. Proud parents, mother Emma (34 years of age) and father, Pulah, also 34, have brought a very special and precious youngster – a critically endangered Sumatran orangutan – into the world.
You can read the full details HERE.
Quite often when we visit the Zoo we ask a member of staff if any new babies have been born recently. Invariably the answer is yes, so we always head off to see the new additions. No doubt, our young orangutan addition will attract a lot of interest.
Chester Zoo Visits This Summer – What Else?
So, what else can you expect from any Chester Zoo visits this summer? You can take a look at the Zoo’s “Love it for Longer” exhibition. It is currently well under way and the zoo have loved talking to us all about all things waste, recyclable and sustainable. This summer the idea is to bring us daily events and workshops to inspire the whole family. These range from interactive story times and science shows to resourceful art projects.
That all sounds well worth a visit. For more details of the exhibition, have a look HERE.
The zoo are also creating a new 10 mile Nature Recovery Corridor. Stretching from Chester to Ellesmere Port, the new Nature Recovery Corridor will see the zoo, in conjunction with partners from across the region, restore a network of wildlife-rich habitat and contributing to the recovery of severely declining species that are in need of urgent help. This link HERE will tell you more.
Mystery Boxes
Maybe not a specifically summer related event but a new introduction this summer are Chester Zoo’s Mystery Boxes. The idea behind the Mystery Boxes is that you can get to unwrap a little bit of that Chester Zoo special magic with your very own limited edition mystery box. But, what is in your box? Who knows? After all, the clue is in the name (mystery box) and the mystery is part of the surprise. You won’t know until you unwrap your box and take a peek. The contents could be anything, from soft toys to stationery and games. No two boxes are the same but once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Find out more about these Mystery Boxes HERE. Why not start the summer holidays with a bang and get your little ‘un their very own box.
I’m sure that you will agree that there is always plenty to do and see at Chester Zoo anyway. These extra additions only adds to the attraction. If you are planning any Chester Zoo visits this summer, I’m sure you’ll have a great time whenever you go. Chester Zoo – one of the best places to visit in Chester.
