The location of Chester of course means that you will not have to travel too far for other great sport opportunities. On the doorstep is the vibrant city of Liverpool, only 15 miles away. Here you will find the homes of Liverpool FC and Everton FC. Manchester is a bit further away, approximately 45 miles. The city of Manchester of course is the homes of Manchester City and Manchester United. If cricket is your sport, then of course there is Old Trafford cricket ground.
Also close by are the Rugby League hot spots of Warrington, Wigan, St Helens and Widnes.

Chester Racecourse – The Roodee.
Horse racing is very popular in Chester. Chester can boast that it houses the oldest racecourse in the UK. It can be found a mere stones throw from the city centre.

Horse racing in Chester has been taking place since the early sixteenth century. Chester Roodee is also thought to be the smallest racecourse of significance in England at 1 mile and 1 furlong (1.8 km) long. More about the Roodee HERE.
Chester Football Club – Chester FC
Chester Football Club
Currently Chester FC are members of the National League, the fifth tier of English football. Their home stadium is known as the Deva Stadium.
The club was founded in 2010 following the winding-up of the original Chester City.

Chester Rugby Union Football Club – Chester RUFC
Chester Rugby Union Football Club – Chester RUFC, based in Littleton.
On the outskirts of Chester on the A51 in a village called Littleton, you will find Chester RUFC. They are governed by the Rugby Football Union. The first XV currently plays in the fourth tier of the English Rugby Union league system, the National League 2 North. Royal Chester Rowing Club
Royal Chester Rowing Club, based at the Groves on the River Dee.
If being on the water is your sporting preference, the Royal Chester Rowing Club is a rowing club based on the River Dee at The Groves. Both men’s and women’s squads row on the River Dee. The club has members ranging from juniors of 14 upwards to Veteran oarsmen and women.
