Cheshire Fire and Rescue Bonfire Message
Remember, remember, the 5th of November. Fair do’s, with all that’s going on, this year’s bonfire night seems to have snuck up on us doesn’t it. Almost under the radar. Nevertheless, November the 5th it is. And it is still bonfire night. As such, comes words of caution and warning. Like this valuable Cheshire Fire and Rescue bonfire message.
Yet again, many thanks to John from Blacon for this invaluable message. Cheers John, much appreciated. Anyway, here’s the Cheshire Fire and Rescue bonfire message. Take heed folks and stay safe.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Bonfire Message
The key part of the message is for people not to light bonfires in their gardens. Read on for more details.
“Our firefighters are urging people to think twice before they light a bonfire or have a firework display in their garden this year. Starting any fire can be extremely dangerous and may lead to disastrous consequences, so we are encouraging people to consider safer options to celebrate Bonfire Night that doesn’t involve flames or fireworks.
Any fire can quickly get out of hand and spread to fences, sheds and properties. It can also cause harm and endanger life. We really want you to have fun this Bonfire Night but to do so safely, within the law and bearing in mind the current situation with the pandemic.
We have provided this advice for anyone considering using fireworks in a bid to help keep everyone as safe as possible.
Take Note of These Tips
- Stand well back
- Keep pets indoors
- Keep fireworks in a closed box
- Only buy fireworks that are CE marked
- Light at arm’s length, using a taper
- Follow the instructions on each firework
- Never give sparklers to a child under five
- Don’t drink alcohol if setting off fireworks
- Always supervise children around fireworks
- Light sparklers one at a time and wear gloves
- Never put fireworks in your pocket or throw them
- Never go near a firework that has been lit – even if it hasn’t gone off it could still explode
- Pour water on the embers before leaving
- Fireworks must not be bought or used by anyone under the age of 18 and fireworks must have the CE safety mark printed on them.
- Fireworks can also frighten animals and people inside their homes so this should also be taken into consideration before they are used. This year we need to celebrate a little differently and, now more than ever, we need to pull together to help slow the spread of the virus.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Bonfire Message – Our Mogs Are Grounded
As from now, our four, furry, attention seeking eating machines will have to tow the line. And that means of course, being under short term house arrest. Good job we’ve stocked up on treats. House arrest won’t bother three of the four particularly. But maybe not so Annie!!!
Annie has her street cred to consider. Popular with so many neighbours and a star of Google Maps, Annie normally has things to do and people to see. Sorry Annie, not for today. No student parties. You’re grounded. I’ve just given her some Dreamies and she’s settling down for a nap. Good. Let’s hope she has a long nap and doesn’t make a fuss about wanting to go out later.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Bonfire Message – Stay Safe Everyone
This year’s “Bonny Night” will be a bit different to say the least. Will people really bother that much? As there are no organised big events, the opposite may happen of course.
For some much needed respite from watching box sets, learning how to knit, or reading books, more and more families may decide to have their own “Bonny Night” event. Observing safety lockdown rules of course. If so, it is even more important to read the above and stay safe.
Hang on, Annie’s just lifted her head and mumbled something. I think in cat speak she said, “be careful and stay safe everyone and listen to the advice.” Wise meows indeed Annie. I think you’ve just earned yourself a few more Dreamies for later.
