Beer Tasting At The Over 55s Club

Quite a few boxes going to be ticked in this post I reckon. Beer tasting – check. Nice weather – check (hopefully). Good beer – check. Good company – check. Great venue – check. Great value and a great morning of events – check. A bit of lunch – check. Great organisers – check. Have I missed anything out? Regular visitors to my website will know that I am a fan of the 55’s Club at Hoole Community Centre. I’ve had some very enjoyable trips there in recent times. Such as the pizza making event. Great fun and the ‘icing on the cake’ so to speak, my pizza was edible. Well, it was to me!!

So, what’s all this talk about beer tasting about? Read on, to find out more.

Beer Tasting At The Over 55’s Club

This Wednesday coming (28th June) there is an event I am sure will prove to be so very popular. Brian from Beech Avenue Brewery will be at Hoole Community Centre to talk about all things beer and give members some beers to taste. This is one to not be missed!

Before going into a bit more detail about Beech Avenue Brewery, what about this “55 and Over Club”, or “Over 55s Club” (not sure of the official title).

In short, it is a varied programme of events for over 55s, with lunch included if you wish. The various programmes run every Wednesday between 10am and 1pm. The cost is £5.00 per session. Oh, and if you need it, transport is available.

Beer Tasting by Beech Avenue Brewery

Right, what about Beech Avenue Brewery?

Beech Avenue Brewery is located set in the beautiful countryside on Lodge farm between Rossett and Holt to the northeast of Wrexham, just on the border of Wales & England.

Like so many businesses, Beech Avenue Brewery started off as an idea in a kitchen. Unsurprisingly, a kitchen on Beech Avenue in late 2019. Very quickly however, the microbrewery outgrew its original home, i.e. the kitchen. So, it was necessary to move to the farm in the Autumn of 2020.

The brewery continues to expand and it now serves the local community with its range of traditional Welsh cask ales as well as a selection of craft and seasonal bottled beers. All beers are available for delivery or from local stockists.

Brewery owners, Brian and Melissa, are very community minded. To such an extent that they have made it their business to get the brewery involved with the local community whenever they can. Consequently, you can often find them displaying and serving their products at various events in and around the Wrexham area. As we have this event coming up in Hoole, the good word has spread as far as here.

More Than Just Beer

The brewery do provide other products as well as beer. With a selection of liqueurs being produced on site and their annual cider production, there is a bevvy available for everyone. And they are all available from their shop on Rhosddu Industrial Estate.

So there you go. An event to add to your diary. A bit of beer tasting, a good natter and a catch up, followed by lunch. What’s not to like!! If you go, I hope you have an enjoyable time.
