A Huge Thanks To Jeff

I’ve been meaning to write a post for some time about someone who deserves a special mention for the amazing services he has been providing during these very difficult times. Take a bow and let me say a huge thanks to Jeff Moore from Boughton. For those of you who don’t know who Jeff Moore is, then read on and you will see the incredible efforts Jeff has made.

A Huge Thanks To Jeff

Over the last 13 to 14 weeks Jeff has been providing a meals service for so many people during the lockdown. To be more precise, he has been cooking and delivering Sunday lunches and a Wednesday night curry to so many people in the Chester area.

I remember when I first read about it and I thought then how incredible this is. It was first brought to my attention via the local Next Door Neighbourhood forum.

Jeff announced on the forum that he was to offer Sunday lunches for fellow members of the group over the age of 65 who happen to be self isolating. All for free.

Furthermore, he prepared a Sunday lunch for anyone else who is self isolating for £5. An incredible effort indeed.

Quite often, Jeff was cooking and delivering as many as 68 Sunday roasts. All for free. Truly amazing.

Not forgetting his Wednesday night Curry night either. These curry’s were also cooked and delivered for a great price of £6.

About three weeks ago, Jeff delivered his 1,000th Sunday lunch. Take a look at the photo above. How good does that look for a Sunday lunch!!! It’s not only providing the lunches that deserves a mention. What about the effect on community spirit? If there were a few more Jeff’s knocking about, wouldn’t the world be a much better place.

Unfortunately though Jeff has reluctantly decided to end his meal service.

A Huge Thanks To Jeff – As He Hangs Up His Apron

As a result of his own health issues, this Sunday, the 21st June will be Jeff’s last mammoth session in the kitchen. Or, as Jeff says, he is hanging up his apron. Here’s how Jeff announced the news in the Next Door Neighbourhood forum:

“Well after a lot of deep thinking, I’ve decided to hang my apron up. Since things are slowly getting back to normal. I will be stopping the meals. Sunday the 21st of June will be my last day.

I’ve met some lovely people in the last 13-14 weeks, and I hope I’ve helped people out in these strange times.

My health isn’t 100% and I’ve pulled my back. So I’m going to take it easy for a while.

Thanks so much to all that have donated. Truly amazing. David Joinson has been fantastic, week in and week out.

This weeks meal will be: Roast Turkey, New Potatoes, Carrots, Cabbage, Broccoli, Gravy, Sage and Onion and for pudding Homemade Egg Custard Tart.“

After Jeff posted the above he received many messages of thanks and well wishes. Thanks so very much Jeff. I hope you are soon back to full health and you are able to enjoy your own Sundays and someone makes a fuss of you now and then.
