Hoole Festival
Sunday 24th September 2017 saw the latest Hoole Festival take place. After the success of previous festivals this year and last year, the eagerly awaited festival returned. The festival on 30th April earlier was such a huge success. Could the Autumn Hoole Festival be as a popular?
Hoole Festival
Having attended the event yesterday it would seem that the answer is a resounding “Yes”
Faulkner Street, Charles Street and the Bishop Street Car Park behind the Charles Street and Faulkner Street shops were all visited by thousands of eager visitors. You will see from the photographs taken that there were plenty of people attending.
The various stalls on display brilliantly showcased a fabulous range of high quality goods and services.
Walking along Hoole Road you very quickly saw the effect of the Festival as the traffic along Hoole Road could be seen to be backing up quite considerably.
As well as the many stores available, fortunately the weather was good. And as all Hoole residents know, when the weather is good, so many enjoy sitting outside the Bawn Lodge. As this photo testifies…..
A very popular pub offering a wide range of quality beers and food, the Bawn Lodge was an ideal place to enjoy the Hoole Festival.
Faulkner Street – Hoole Festival
Upon entering Faulkner Street you couldn’t help but be impressed by the sheer number of stalls and people thronging the busy street. The very first stall at the top of Faulkner Street was offering some interesting dishes. Curried Goat anyone….?
There was so much to choose from if you were hungry. Pork pies, pizzas, burritos, burgers…you name it, Hoole Festival catered for all tastes.
As this photo shows, the crowds were out in force in Faulkner Street…..
Not only Faulkner Street, Charles Street was hugely popular also….
As is often the case during these festivals, the pubs do a roaring trade. The ever popular Royal Oak was packed to the rafters…..
As well as the plethora of quality stalls, the Festival enables some of Chester’s musical talents to entertain the crowds…….
A Great Time Had By All
It is fair to say this latest Festival was another success. Credit must also of course go to the event organisers. They have undoubtedly worked so very hard and done a truly brilliant job. Long may the Hoole Festivals continue. It is difficult to now see why they wouldn’t as they are so successful.
Not being originally from Hoole myself it didn’t take me long to see why Hoole is such a sought after to place to live when I moved here some 12 years or so ago. Affectionately known as “Notting Hoole” to the locals it is easy to see what the attractions are. For me quite simply, the key to “Notting Hoole’s” popularity can be summed up in one word. Variety. It has variety in abundance and as a result caters for so many cross sections of the populus.
While speaking to someone after the Festival we both agreed that locally only Hoole could put on such a well attended, popular event. Arguably, even Chester city centre couldn’t compete.
So many people and so many quality stalls as previously mentioned. This stall in particular summed up everything that is great about Hoole…..
Already so looking forward to the next Hoole Festival. Well done and thank you to all involved in organising this excellent event. You’ve done yourselves and Hoole proud.
