We Belong
Those of a certain age and who have a certain taste in music may be thinking, “Wow, he’s writing about the Pat Benatar classic of that name from 2001.” Not so is the answer to that. A cracking song though. No, the title of the article refers to something less musical and more local. Well, in actual fact the article title should strictly be Belong and not We Belong. Having said that, it’s got you this far hasn’t it.
If you didn’t know already, Belong is an award winning care village ideally located on City Road. As they say on their website, “Belong is a pioneer in the care sector.” However, they offer much more than that. A hair and beauty salon for instance. A gym, events and a fabulous Bistro to name just a few of the services.
A short walk from the railway station and the city centre and across the canal from Harkers pub. A great location. As it happens we were casually walking along City Road a few weeks ago when I paused to have a look at the menu, ideally positioned by the entrance door. While perusing the menu I looked inside as the automatic doors slid open and closed as a variety of people entered or left. “This looks interesting” I thought. So with stomach suitably rumbling after eye-balling the menu, I thought we should pop in and have a look.
We Belong – Well Worth A Visit
After a brief exchange with the helpful receptionist, it was great to find out that the dining area was open to the public. So, let’s grab a table. You know when you walk into a place and you feel instantly relaxed and chilled? That’s what I felt as soon as I sat at our table. Still too early to get too excited though as we hadn’t sampled the food that was on offer. A delicious omelette with extra cheese and a cappuccino coffee later and that question was answered. More boxes ticked. Emphatically so. My first comment immediately after finishing my meal was, “I’m coming here again.” And sure enough, we have. We’ve been suitably impressed on each of the three occasions we have visited. As a result, we feel that we belong the more often we visit.
As far as good quality breakfasts and lunches go, do we recommend it? Very much so. Excellent breakfast and lunch menu at great value. Our next visit is going to be for a “Fish Friday” lunch. I’m well up for that.

For my part, I’ve tried the Bistro and a very good Bistro it is. Roll on Friday for “Fish Friday.” I’ve not seen any of the apartments or households so can’t comment on those, but something else I did have a look at while there was The Venue. An entertainments room with it’s own large movie screen, relaxing seating areas, games, books, a jukebox and the real icing on the cake – a licensed bar. Non residents can also hire the room out for private functions. I was massively impressed with The Venue. And the other facilities. Without doubt a very appealing set up.
For the moment though my visits are going to be to the Bistro. Regular visits are definitely on the agenda for a bite to eat in a relaxing environment. So, if you are looking for a really good location to enjoy a great value, quality breakfast or lunch, then pop along to Belong. You won’t be disappointed.
