As a small town, it hasn’t produced a long list of what you would call household, famous individuals. The town takes its name from Chester, New York in actual fact. But that’s where there is a link with ourselves as Chester, the village in Orange County, New York took their name from our good selves. More on Chester, New York in a future post.
The Georgia General Assembly incorporated the place in 1902 as the “Town of Chester”, with municipal corporate limits extending in a one-mile radius from the Wrightsville and Tennille Railroad depot.
