With Love From Hoole
Continuing with my mentions of my random strolls into the centre of Hoole and the wonders found at the many local, independent traders. While pottering down Charles Street, I remembered I needed a birthday card. So, off I pop into a shop I hadn’t been in to for a while. The shop in question was With Love From Hoole. I must admit, at first I thought it was a bit of a shot in the dark. The reason being, the last time I was in the shop, I didn’t think there was such a great selection of cards.
But, as I soon discovered, the last time I was in there was clearly before May of this year. As it happens, new owners took over the premises in May of this year. Step forward and take a bow Laura and Andy. So, did I find my card? Read on to find out.
With Love From Hoole
Always a good sign for me is being greeted with a warm welcome as soon as you walk into a shop. And, sure enough, that is what we got when we walked in to With Love From Hoole. Both Laura and Andy were standing behind the counter and offered a cheery “Hello” as soon as we entered. One positive box instantly ticked and so far, so good.
Before heading off to the end of the store where the cards are on display, I stopped to have a look at some of the displays. Partly because they looked different to the last time I’d been in the shop, and partly because there seemed to be some really interesting stock to check out. Some great Christmas gifts ideas. Well, gifts for any and all occasions really. But with Christmas coming up, a lot of choice. And an interesting variety as well.
With Love From Hoole Cards
To be honest, more often than not, I wait to go into town to get any cards I need. From the Card Factory to be more precise. Always a good choice in there. And again being honest, I half expected to get to the cards section and find a rather limited selection. Or, cards not particularly suitable. But what a big pleasant surprise. Loads of choice for so many occasions. As it was a female birthday card I was after, I thought maybe buy a card that has a specific theme to it, or a mention of it being for a female. Or, a humorous one. Again, plenty of choice. And really good quality as well.
Plenty to choose from to the extent I “forced” myself to eventually choose one as otherwise I could have been there until closing time.
So, card selected, time to head off back to the till. But not before stopping off to check out some more of the displays. I particularly liked the gin glasses and the wine gift set (5 wine related gifts in a gift box set, including a bottle of wine) and I really liked the picture frames. To name just a few items on offer.
A Warm Welcome and a Friendly Departure
As mentioned above, both Laura and Andy were very welcoming when we entered. And they continued the welcoming vibes when checking out at the till. I don’t know about you, but doesn’t a friendly engagement with the shop owners or staff help to make parting with your hard earned wonga that bit easier?
A quick couple of minutes chat with Laura and Andy before we left and we were on our way. But not before we were presented with a complimentary “With Love From Hoole” card size, one page calendar. A really nice touch.
Yes indeed, what I thought would be a rather mundane pop into a local shop while half expecting to be disappointed, turned into a very pleasant experience.
Readers of my website will know that I like good social engagement. And I like the local community feel of our independent, local traders. From my first experience at With Love From Hoole, both of those boxes were well and truly ticked.
Well done to both Laura and Andy. I really hope the business goes from strength to strength. I’m sure it will. It deserves to. Would I go back again for some other gifts or cards? Most definitely.
I hope you like my latest local independent trader, personal experience impromptu review. In the build up to Christmas (and beyond), definitely put this well stocked, friendly shop on your radar. Next time you’re in Hoole, pop along to No 8, Charles Street and check it out. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
