A few local security issues that have been brought to my attention to make you aware of. Unfortunately these incidents are never that far away are they. But as long as we can all pull together and, wherever we can, warn each other of any incidents that may need highlighting. Let’s all be aware and stay safe as much as we can.

Be Aware And Stay Safe

You may recall, I posted an article about someone (seemingly?) randomly trying some doors of local residents in Hoole. If you wanted a refresher, then you can read the original article, “Be Extra Careful” by clicking that particular link. A quick update on this article though. It would appear that someone has been apprehended for these, and other, incidents.

I’m not sure how the apprehension came about but, who knows, maybe a bit of local neighbourhood due diligence helped. The important thing however though is someone has been caught.

But, as touched on above, these type of incidents are never far away. So, as ever, be extra diligent folks and let’s see if we can also help to find even more wrongdoers.

Be Aware Of These Type Of Incidents

Details of door knockers and scallies causing car damage has been mentioned recently. One incident reported to me recently actually happened in the same street as one of the “Be Extra Careful” incidents. One evening a neighbour went to bed and his car was fine but then overnight it was keyed across the doors causing quite extensive damage. A lovely car as well. Maybe not really the point, but it may explain the ‘motive’ – if indeed there is any such ‘motive’ other than just being simply an out and out vandal with nothing else better to do.

And in Upton, in the Bache Avenue and Upton Drive area, a resident’s car was broken into sometime between around 11am on Sunday & 5pm Monday in the vicinity of Bache Drive. It would seem that this was not an isolated incident. Someone else reported that a few weeks ago police were knocking door to door on Upton Drive as someone was checking everyone’s car doors in the early hours of the morning. And they had actually broke into someone’s car. The Upton incidents have been reported to the police.

Door to Door Visitors

Not a rare event but recently reported. Door to door visitors trying to sell items of stock from a holdall they are carrying. And when their offers are rejected they are known to get abusive and quite threatening. Again, this was reported in the Upton and Hoole areas. By all accounts some residents saw these door knockers being dropped off from a van. So, it looks like it is quite an orchestrated, targeted ruse.

They may be harmless but from what I’m hearing from others, they sound to be quite disturbing and a potential threat. I know you probably wouldn’t, but just in case, let’s make sure. Don’t let anyone this threatening into your home.

Another reason to be aware and stay safe.
