Chester Christmas Markets 2022
Anyone who was anywhere the Town Hall last Sunday would have seen some heavy lifting going on. There was a hive of activity going on with forklift drivers carefully placing this years stalls for the Chester Christmas Markets 2022. Not long to wait now folks. It all starts this Friday, the 18th November. Is everyone excited?
I know that this year is going to be difficult for so many. As was the last few years actually. But, as ever, there is something special about this time of the year. And as ever, we will do what we can do to make it a very enjoyable time of the year. Christmas does that to people. It brings out the family spirit even more so than at any other time of the year it seems. And if that means possibly being a bit more frugal, then so be it. Despite what the marketing gurus try to get you to recognise, Christmas isn’t all about spending money. However, if you were to spend money, then where you can, keep it local. Only a suggestion. And on that note, back on to the main topic – Chester Christmas Markets 2022.
What’s happening and when and where? As many will already know, as well as the Christmas Markets, other Christmassy events will also kick into gear.
Anyway, let’s have a look shall we.
Chester Christmas Markets 2022
In addition to the markets opening at the Town Hall Square on Friday, November 18, the Christmas lights will be on across the city centre. This will add to the festive atmosphere no doubt.
Here’s a few key dates and times for your diary.
The Chester Christmas Markets 2022 will be open Sunday to Wednesday 10.30am to 6.30pm, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday 10.30am to 8pm. Also new this year is the Rows Christmas Bazaar. You can pop along to see this on Thursday’s and weekends during November and December.
Other Activities
There is also a programme of other festive activities to be aware of. These activities are part of the Heritage Action Zone Project, supported by Visit Chester and Cheshire.

More on the last mentioned event. Organised by Cheshire West and Chester Council the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ is the first of four parades to return this year. A variety of local Community groups and local artists will parade through the city centre from Bridge Street, travelling towards the Cross, Eastgate Street, St Werburgh Street, past the Town Hall and ending in Watergate Street.
Father Christmas, yes indeed, Father Christmas himself, will greet the parade with pyrotechnics at key locations. These locations will be at the Cross, Eastgate Clock, Chester Cathedral, and the Town Hall.
