Wow, how long has it been? Most certainly it is a case of long time no see. So, where have you all been? Oh, hang on, I don’t think that’s quite right is it? It isn’t you folks who have been absent is it. It is me. Or, it was me. Hopefully, after what seems like a long absence, I will be back to writing on a more regular basis. That last statement is as much for my own benefit as I do really enjoy posting to my Chester Lifestyle website.
So, without going into too much detail, why was it a case of long time no see?
Long Time No See
Swiftly following on from a bit of a health wobble, it was my websites that then also suffered their own health wobbles. To any website owners out there, if I say, problems with databases and hosting companies, then you will no doubt understand what I mean. To those that don’t, I won’t bore you with the details. But suffice to say, it has been a bit hectic…….to say the least!!!
Talk about technical stuff. Not only that, long, heavy emails to “support” staff at my first hosting company. Now that I have joined another hosting company, do I remain with the first one after the hassles I’ve had recently? Hmmm…..let me have a think!!!
Anyway, swiftly moving on.
I’ve a few posts to catch up on. So, I’ll be doing my best to get as many on here as soon as I can. And, on this particular point, a big apology to regular contributor, John from Blacon. He’s been sending me some great articles to post, but as I’ve been in limbo (or, a technical blur to be more precise), I couldn’t post them.
Fair do’s, John even contacted me to check if I was OK as he hadn’t heard from me for some time. Thanks for your concern John – much appreciated. And thanks for the latest article you sent through to me yesterday. I’m on the case for posting it later.
Talking Of Long Time No See
Now and then, I’ll pop into town and take some photos in case they are suitable for a blog post. A short while ago I was wandering through the barren spaces of the Grosvenor Precinct and something caught my eye. Or should that be, the “Grosvenor Precinct…..Grosvenor Precinct…..Grosvenor Precinct”…..he wrote trying to imitate a written version of an echo.
The thoroughfare from the deserted centre of the Precinct through to Pepper Street, shows an advertising board for Chimichanga. For the purpose of this blog post, the image had to be resized, but trust me, it does say Chimichanga. I assume it is where it is because walking through to Pepper Street from there will take you virtually opposite where Chimichanga is. Great, I love a bit of tex mex food. As I’m sure many tourists will as well. But, hang on a minute, didn’t Chimichanga close more than 3 years ago!!!
Wow, you can’t even blame Covid for that. Just a thought, as more and more “to let” boards pop up and the task of filling the empty premises gets even more difficult, wouldn’t it be a good idea for whoever is responsible for that sign to be a bit quicker off the ball? I mean, more than 3 years after a place closed.
Anyway, just a small observation. Not a huge thing maybe on the bigger scale of things. But, for an ex-auditor with an eye for attention to detail (well, only sometimes nowadays as I move further away from my audit days), it sort of stood out. The way my mind works, is that if this sort of thing is missed, what else is missed – or incorrect?
A Quick Mention Of Things Coming Up
This next bit is not exhaustive, but a quick mention of some of the things coming up. I’ve a few posts to add as I mentioned. Starting with yours John. Also, I’ve been pondering spreading the word about, and for, some of our local businesses out there. I have two already lined up to add to those already given a mention. To a large extent though, for this to work, it will need to be a two-way street.
Beyond a mention on here, there is also a possibility of spreading the word even further with a possible link up with another local media outfit. Nothing certain yet, but maybe worth a look at. More information on this to follow.
I’d also like to have a chat with some of the market stall holders about the impending new market opening. More specifically, I’d be curious to hear from those that are not going into the new market and the reasons why they’re not. Be warned Kevin, I’ll be popping in to see you.
Some twenty odd posts from now, I’ll be posting article number 500. That will be 500 posts in just over 4 years. And that doesn’t include the pages added. Anyway, I’ll have to start thinking ahead for the next 500.
Finally for now, a quick question. What about a book? A Chester Lifestyle book. Plenty of material available, so why not? If it happens it will be an ebook. Watch this space.
Long Time No See – Hopefully Now Back On Track
Yes, it has been very much a case of long time no see. I hope that from now on, all wobbles will now be avoided. But you never know. These things are so random at times aren’t they? And, on the off chance anyone from my hosting company’s support staff are reading this – hang your heads in shame!!!!
