Welcome Back Chester Zoo
Yay……lockdown numero duo is coming to an end next week. Anyone still sane? Yes. That’s good. I am as well as it happens. Cooking on gas as they say. Tier 2 when we re-open things though. And one of those ‘things’ re-opening is Chester Zoo. So, let’s take the opportunity to say “Welcome Back Chester Zoo.” So, what can we expect from our extremely popular, world famous attraction? Welcome Back Chester Zoo
Yes, welcome back Chester Zoo. Great to have you back. The Zoo will be re-opening on Wednesday, 2nd December at 10am. I’ll bet Boris is well excited!!! I do mean of course our very own superstar, Boris the Chimpanzee. Not the other Boris.
As I say, re-opening on Wednesday 2nd December at 10am and it is worth noting that The Lanterns is still going ahead. If you are thinking of paying a visit, you can find all the most recent safety details and advice HERE.
Welcome Back Chester Zoo – A Brief Update
While Chester Zoo have been closed, 2020 has thrown up yet more challenges for them! That’s a huge understatement. Aside from the Covid 19 issues, a couple of cases of avian flu have been reported in the UK and so, as a precautionary measure to protect the many precious birds at the zoo. Some of the indoor habitats will have to remain closed for a while. The Zoo will reopen them as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Christmas Will Be Different
Indeed Christmas this year will be so different for everybody. Chester Zoo are determined to do their bit to ensure that it is still a special Christmas. Welcome Back Chester Zoo – Dates For The Diary
Today, Friday 27 November at 12 noon, there will be another Virtual Zoo Trip on Facebook. This is where you can join live with twin Andean bear cubs. Then on Saturday 28 November at 11am, you will be taken on a tour of the nature reserve and sharing some tips on how to record wildlife and what to look out for over the winter months.
On top of that there will be a series of events that are perfect for any budding conservationists between the age of 12-15. So, if you are wanting to learn practical skills in understanding animal behaviour, animal genetics & hormones and working in the field, you need to check this out.

Last But Least – A New Baby Announcement
A Chester Zoo post wouldn’t be complete without mentioning a recent, special birth would it. And, on that note, Chester Zoo are celebrating the recent birth of a rare baby eastern black rhino!
A female calf, by the name of Kasulu, was safely delivered by new mum Ema Elsa following a 15-month-long pregnancy! This birth will be ‘celebrated globally’ as fewer than 1000 now remain on the planet. Great news and great work by Chester Zoo, yet again!!!
