Hoole Christmas Lights 2020

It will come as no surprise (if you didn’t know already) to find out that the traditional Hoole Christmas Lights switch on is cancelled. An absolute shame as the event is such a popular event every year. Last year for instance was the 20th anniversary. As ever it was so very well populated. Take a look at the video below of last year’s event to see what I mean. Even though we will not have the traditional switch on, there will be a Hoole Christmas Lights 2020 switch on nevertheless.

This year will be a switch on with a difference. Hoole Christmas Lights 2020 will be a socially distanced affair. Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the Hoole lights though would it.

Hoole Christmas Lights 2020 – What’s Happening

Julia, one of the Hoole Christmas Lights organisers, sent me this brief message:

“We’re asking people to decorate their front windows and/or gardens and then everyone switch the lights on at 6pm on 21st. At 6.15 we’re hoping people will join in singing jingle bells on their doorstep.”

Also, as the event is funded by private funding contributions and contributions from local businesses, there is an appeal to help fund the lights switch on for this and subsequent years. As Julia goes on to say:

“We are still looking for funding too, especially to get the lights repaired for next year. There is a GoFundMe page where people can make a donation if they wish. The link is https://gf.me/u/y44urx.”

Many thanks to anyone who makes a contribution. And a big thanks, on behalf of Julia and all the other organisers, for taking part in the socially distanced switch on. Taking part will add a bit of normality and put us in Christmas Countdown mode.

Finally, a big thanks to Julia and all other organisers for taking the trouble to arrange something for this year. Hopefully next year we will be fully back to normal. And we will see a return to a more familiar Hoole Christmas Lights switch on. Just like the one we had last year.
