Chester Delivers
As has been mentioned before, you often find that during times of crisis certain people stand up to be counted and go the extra mile to assist those somewhat less fortunate. A bit of bulldog spirit and all that. No doubt, there will be displays of bulldog spirit throughout every town, city and region throughout the UK. And of course, Chester is no different. In these difficult times, businesses throughout Chester have stepped forward to help. In short, Chester delivers when the chips are down.
It is a two way street in that the businesses listed support the community and in utilising the businesses and their services, the community are helping these businesses survive.
I wonder if we’ll start seeing local versions of delivery options? Like a local version of “Deliveroo”. One could be called “DeliverHoole”. I’ll get my coat!!!
Chester Delivers
Here’s a great effort by a lady by the name of Clare, who I follow on Twitter and she very kindly follows me back. Clare has put together a web page, listing those “Chester Delivers” businesses. Clare has been putting together a list of “local independent businesses on Twitter that are willing to deliver during this second lockdown. I think they’d be grateful for any support. It’s here for anyone interested.”
Rather than me relist them all separately, it is just as well for me to provide the link back to Clare’s page. As Claire mentions in her comment above, “I think they’d be grateful for any support.” Plenty, myself included, will agree with that sentiment.
So have a look at the list on Clare’s page HERE. Print it off if you can and stick it to the side of your fridge. Or pin it on your family notice board if you have such a thing. It may well be that the list changes along the way as more and more businesses come forward and deliver. So you may wish to visit the page quite regularly. And you may wish to make sure you have enough ink in your print cartridges. Anyone on the list deliver ink cartridges?
“Chester Delivers” is a great idea Clare. Well done for putting this list together.
Chester Delivers – Others That Have Stepped Up
As well as these businesses on this list, we have recently mentioned others that have stepped up. The Waggon and Horses for instance. The family from the Waggon provided free meals for children during the recent school half term. A real “Chester Delivers” top drawer effort. You can read about this brilliant gesture HERE.
And of course, let’s not forget Jeff Moore who has recently gone back to providing and delivering free Sunday lunches to the more vulnerable locals in self isolation. You can read what Jeff did back in the summer HERE. A service he is now replicating. When I get more specific details of how to order etc, I’ll post on here.
And, in the early days of the pandemic (doesn’t that seem so long ago now!!), there were the volunteers. Volunteers who provided PPE equipment and headbands for the NHS staff. Brilliant gestures again. You can find out more about these volunteers HERE.
All of these are well worth a mention. Any candidates here worthy to be given the “Freedom of the City” status? How is that awarded by the way? Not that’s the reason why these people do these things. Just me thinking out loud.
