Continuing with the idea of posting the information on the Covid 19 Mutual Aid PDF document in an article for those that can’t download a PDF document for whatever reason, here’s the next section. It’s some very useful information warning people to watch out for Coronavirus scams. As you will know if you are a regular visitor, we regularly post scam alerts information and warnings. Have a read of these tips and spread the word where you can.

Be Aware of People Offering or Selling:

Virus testing kits – these are only offered by the NHS.

Vaccines or miracle cures – there is currently no vaccine or cure available.

Overpriced or fake goods offering to protect you from coronavirus. Products like anti-bacterial cleansing items.

Shopping or medication collection services.

Home cleaning services.

Protect Yourself and Others

Don’t be rushed into making a decision. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Only purchase Covid related goods and services from legitimate retailers. Think carefully before parting with any money or personal information.

Don’t assume everyone is genuine. It’s okay to reject, refuse or ignore requests. Only criminals will try to rush or panic you.

If someone claims to be representing a charity, ask them for ID. Be suspicious for requests for money up front. Be careful of anyone trying to pressurise you into accepting a service. If they pressure, they are probably not genuine.

Check with family or friends before accepting offers of help if you are unsure.
