Children During Lockdown
As has been said on several occasions, we are all living in very difficult times at the moment. But also as has been pointed out there is support out there for so many situations. One group of people not specifically mentioned on this website so far is children. Well, not until now that is. This post focuses on children during lockdown.
The very useful article below has been passed to me by a member on Next Door Neighbourhood via regular contributor, John from Blacon. Thanks for forwarding it on John. I’m sure many reading this will find this so very informative.
Children During Lockdown
The information contained the article originates from Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC). Read on for more information.
“Play your part to help vulnerable children during lockdown
The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that many children are now at home throughout the week instead of at school.
For some, this may lead to neglect and other forms of abuse.
Our Children’s Service is working closely with partners and schools to safeguard our most vulnerable children and families, but they need the help of all our communities, staff and volunteers to ensure that no child is put at risk during the current lockdown.
The Cheshire West and Chester Safeguarding Children Partnership is asking communities, staff and volunteers across the borough to be an extra pair of eyes and ears for these young people.
Some common signs that there may be something concerning happening in a child’s life include.
Aggressive or repeated shouting.
Hearing hitting or things being broken.
Children crying for long periods of time.
Very young children being left alone or outdoors by themselves.
Children looking dirty or not changing their clothes.
Children being withdrawn or anxious.
You don’t have to be certain about your suspicions before making a report. If you have a feeling that something’s not right, or if you see or are told something please talk to the Council’s Children’s Social Care team who can look into it.
