Stay At Home Recipes
Now, I would imagine that a fair few people who know me will have raised an eyebrow when they saw this new category appear. And why is that may I ask? Those of you that know me well will know I used to be a student so I had a few years of having to look after myself. So stay at home recipes are not new to me.
What I could do with a tin opener and a tin of beans from Presto in Pond Street, Sheffield is nobody’s business. And a couple of pounds of mince from Sheffield Market on a Saturday. Epic, quality recipes straight from the “Lob It In” School of Catering!!! So, hold tight folks. And tune in to my new Chester Lifestyle category. Stay at home recipes.
You’ll be amazed at what’s stored in the back of my mind. (NB: Quite frankly, so will I).
Stay At Home Recipes
Right then, stay at home recipes are coming. And, in addition to that, some general cooking tips beyond recipes. For instance, to all the men out there who are in a relationship and living with their partner. Some top advice. Namely, how to be requested to stay clear of the kitchen. To many, what a result that is!!!
To be more specific and having been an avid follower of the “Lob It In” School of Catering training methods as mentioned above, my cooking exploits has virtually got me banned from our kitchen at home by my wife. How unfair I say (tee hee…….do I really say that?).
Quite often I like my food to be spicy to say the least. So, in the days before I was virtually banned from the kitchen, I didn’t cook us a meal. I used to create. Really getting into the terminology there aren’t I. An evening meal would be a creation. Not any old put together concoction cooking of a meal. No siree – a creation no less. And that’s even from a devotee of the “School Of Lob It In” and all the principles they stand for.
Stay At Home Recipes – Lob It In
Unwittingly I think my “Lob It In” style was what got me banned from the kitchen. Well, in fact, I know it did. Whenever I cooked…..er, sorry, I mean carefully and lovingly created a masterpiece and was asked “what is it?”
I would briefly explain what it was, but at the end add the three little words that brought about my ban. What are these three little words?
Quite simply, the three little words that causes a mild panic in our house are……”with a twist.” Invariably the ‘twist’ involved making what I deemed a quite mundane dish hotter and spicier. Yes, you’ve guessed it. Lobbing in some extra chillies and peppers and other hot (ish) ingredients took the mundane to the higher levels of a “Wow Creation”
Well, it did in my mind. Not necessarily the case for “Mrs P” though. I think in the early days of my creations the mouth furnace-esque creations were politely tolerated. Nowadays though, the mere mention of me saying, “I’ll cook something tonight. Don’t worry though, it won’t be boring. I’ll do it with a twist!!!”
The look of horror staring back at me forewarned me as to what was coming next. “No…..no….no twist. In fact, don’t do anything, I’ll cook something”
So, in a nutshell the three words that turn me from “super chef creator extraordinaire” to a mere consumer are “with a twist”
Mind you when I start adding my own stay at home recipes here on Chester Lifestyle I may cause a right commotion by one day creating a classic, wait for it…….without a twist!!! Shudder the thought, but you never know.
I do reckon though there will still be plenty stay at home recipes that will be crying out for “with a twist”
Watch this space.
Stay At Home Recipes – What Next?
Well, after this post I will begin to add my stay at home recipes. I’ve already got a few lined up. In some cases, those that do warrant a ‘twist’ I may just add “Lob It In” at the bottom of the instructions. As to what to lob in and in what quantities is up to you. But, being a creation guru I would suggest something hot and plenty of it. Simples!!!
Hey, I just thought. Who knows, a new recipe book could be in the offing. I know, I know, there are recipe books galore out there. But one called…”Lob It In With A Twist” or “Twist It With A Lob” has a certain appeal about it doesn’t it. It smacks of a classy creation of culinary heaven doesn’t it?
I’ll have a think about that.
Anyway though, I will be adding some of my stay at home recipes. So, you’ve been warned!!!
