Buttons Wanted For Our NHS Staff
It’s great to see so many people going the extra mile (or two) during these troubled times isn’t it. People selflessly giving up their time to offer aid and assistance in any way they can. Some of the assistance may seem a bit obscure at times. But fair do’s, where’s there a will, there’s a way. More specifically, where people are inventive enough to find a way to help, they will. Case in point, this message I received a short while ago. Buttons wanted!!!
Yes, you read that right. Buttons wanted. For what exactly? Carry on reading to find out. Oh, and by the way, if you have any spare buttons you can donate, then let’s ‘ave ’em!!! Pronto!!!……please……..
Buttons Wanted
Originally, the “Buttons Wanted” rallying call came from Sharon Wallace Holdstock of Handmade for Dementia. More locally the request has been championed by Anne Ashman. Well done Anne for all your efforts.
Here’s what Sharon and Anne are looking for…….
“The request was for an army of helpers to assist with high demand for headbands to assist our amazing front line NHS and care workers. These bands relieve the pressure, face masks put on the users ears when wearing them for a lengthy period of time.
Donations of T-shirt or stretchy material along with buttons was requested, fabric has been easier to source though any further donations will always be gratefully received.
But buttons have been harder to source. The buttons can be any type.
Plastic or wooden are best and ideal size is around 23 – 25mm across.
We have donated a further 80 bands to Countess A&E today but we have requests from the Maternity dept that we would like to fulfil with the help of donations and even send to hospitals further afield, Clatterbridge and Arrowe Park.”
Buttons Wanted – Contact Details
Right, so you have buttons. So where do you drop them off? Here you go, contact details and a drop off point.
You can contact Anne Ashman by email at anne.ashman1@btinternet.com
Anne’s contact address is 70 Chatsworth Drive, Chester, CH22ND.
With regard to social distancing, I’m not sure how that will work exactly. I’m sure if you contact Anne she will let you know how they plan to take delivery of them.
There you have it folks. The latest suggestion in looking for ways to help our overstretched NHS workers. And, as I say, where’s there a will, there’s a way. More and more people are thinking outside the box to find some really great ways to help out.
Great effort by all concerned.
Oh I’m sure you’ll know this already. Spread the word wherever you can. Many thanks.
Chester Lifestyle Blog Posts
As it happens, I haven’t set up a specific Coronavirus category on my blog. To be fair I don’t think many people expected the kind of impact it has had only as recently as a few short weeks ago. Or, in fact, what it was for that matter. But now we all know. And, as a result, I have written a fair few articles on the subject recently. Much of the information has been kindly forwarded to me by John, in Blacon. As has the information for this post. So, thanks yet again John. Much appreciated.
You can see all my other coronavirus posts and all my other posts on a variety of topics in this link HERE.
Thanks for reading my “Buttons Wanted” post and thanks for visiting my website generally. Much appreciated.
