Hospice Of The Good Shepherd
Hello folks, I hope you are all coping well enough under these current stressful times. It is without a doubt an incredibly stressful time we all find ourselves in. Somebody said to me the other day (on the phone by the way) that the situation was ‘weird.’ Weird is indeed one way to describe it, but in another way such a description can seem to be something of an understatement. Suffice it to say we will all have our own word, or words, to describe the situation. As we all know local businesses and charities are feeling the strain. One such charitable organisation really feeling the pinch is the Hospice Of The Good Shepherd in Backford.
Hospice Of The Good Shepherd
I have been asked to mention the plight the Hospice Of The Good Shepherd finds itself in.
In a nutshell, the Hospice Of The Good Shepherd face an annual funding shortfall of £1.1m as a result of the Coronavirus crisis.
What Is The Hospice Of The Good Shepherd?
In case you didn’t know, the Hospice Of The Good Shepherd is a respected, local hospice who provide specialist palliative care and end of life support in Cheshire West and Chester.
During this unprecedented crisis in our lifetimes, they are continuing to help and support patients and families in Chester, Ellesmere Port and North Wales who are living with life limiting illnesses and supporting people at the end of their life.
By continuing these vital services, the hospice works closely with the NHS and therefore allows the local hospitals to increase their capacity to focus on patients with coronavirus.
Sterling work indeed – as it is during what we would call normal times.
But, due to the impact of this unprecedented crisis, they are really struggling financially. So they have felt the need to launch an Emergency Coronavirus Appeal to the community asking for urgent support to stay open in the face of a £1.1m funding shortfall.

Hospice Of The Good Shepherd Will Continue Their Vital Support
As difficult as these trying times are, staff at the Hospice are focussed on continuing to deliver the high-quality end of life care that so many members of this community have experienced.
At some time the Hospice will have no doubt supported someone you know. It could have been a member of your family, a friend, a neighbour or colleague. Therefore you will be well aware just how precious this Hospice is to our community.
