Thomas Cook Collapse

Like so many of the scams we come across, we honest, decent living people out there just wished they didn’t exist. Or, to put it another way, we are amazed at the cold, heartless ways of the scammers who prey on innocent victims. It is amazing how quickly some of these scams become “live” so to speak. No surprise then that within days we are already faced with a scam related to the Thomas Cook collapse.

As if it isn’t bad enough that holidaymakers and other travellers are faced with the fall out of the Thomas Cook collapse as it is. But, for the scammers to already set the scam wheels in motion is disgusting.

Thomas Cook Collapse – Be Aware

“People must beware of scammers targeting vulnerable holidaymakers in the fallout of the Thomas Cook collapse, authorities have said.

Anti-fraud campaigners warn that scammers have been calling Britons and offering refunds to people who have lost money from the cancellation of Thomas Cook flights and holiday packages.

One person I know of has been approached by a scammer posing as an employee of the collapsed travel business, in an attempt to gain access to his credit card details.

I am aware there will be others put in similar situations by callers purporting to be someone responsible for refunds on behalf of the Thomas Cook group, asking for their details.

If you have transactions of any kind, connected with Thomas Cook, completely ignore all contacts made directly to you and claiming to be from members of the collapsed company who wish to assist with your failed contract.

NOTE: THERE ARE NO COMPANIES ACTING ON BEHALF OF THOMAS COOK CUSTOMERS WITH A VIEW TO RECOVERING CASH OR CONTRACTS FOR THE CUSTOMER“

On a different note and not scam related, what a tragic scenario for Thomas Cook employees and other related parties. Not only those directly employed by Thomas Cook will be affected of course. How many other businesses, small and large, supply Thomas Cook? I would imagine there are many. Let’s hope all staff from all related parties get sorted very soon.
