Congratulations Chester Zoo

I know I’ve said it several times before but it is right and it does need repeating, you can’t keep Chester Zoo out of the news. There’s always loads of things of interest going on at our world famous, landmark attraction. On this occasion we are saluting the Zoo and saying a heartfelt “Congratulations Chester Zoo”.

In the opening paragraph above I mentioned the words, “world famous”. And with some justification. As it happens, in the last few days, Chester Zoo has……again….(note the use of the word ‘again’) been named as one of the top attractions in the world. Yes, that’s right. The whole world.

Congratulations Chester Zoo in being named as the sixth best Zoo in the world. And the only one in the UK to make the list. The recognition comes from TripAdvisor’s 2019 Travellers’ Choice Awards.

Yet again, I take my hat off to all those at our prestigious, world-renowned attraction.

Mind you it isn’t a surprise Chester Zoo has been so widely recognised by TripAdvisor as it regularly receives awards for a variety of reasons. Chester Zoo’s status on the world scene so to speak is richly deserved and is a reward for all the unstinting work carried out by all those involved.

Congratulations Chester Zoo – More Awards

TripAdvisors announcement comes hot on the heels of other prestigious accolades. For instance, only last month Chester Zoo swept the board at the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) awards.

Behind the scenes, the Zoo’s excellent efforts in helping to make Chester the world’s first sustainable palm oil city has also helped cement its status as one of the best Zoos in the world.

Going Forward – Even More Awards?

I think the answer to that is an emphatic “Yes”. As I said above – you can’t keep Chester Zoo out of the news. With the forthcoming projects there is no reason to think more accolades and awards will be heading the way of Chester Zoo.

One new spectacular project of course is Grasslands. This particular “Grasslands” project will feature a centrepiece which will consist of a large, open African savannah habitat home to a variety of rare species. Animals such as giraffes and zebras will be a prominent feature.

To accompany this new endeavour, a restaurant offering spectacular balcony views across the Savannah will be a fantastic focal point.

Sleepless In Grasslands

Not only a restaurant though. There are plans for something even more spectacular. It is hoped that visitors will even be able to sleep near the animals, as planning proposals also include the potential for the zoo to develop overnight accommodation.

A setting of 42 room-lodges, some of which will overlook the Savannah, will enable guests to wake up to sunrise views over Grasslands.

How brilliant does that sound. Yes indeed, it looks like even more awards are heading Chester Zoo’s way. Well done one and all.

Congratulations Chester Zoo – Another New Baby

Visitors to the Zoo last Saturday (13th July) were amazed when a baby chimp made it’s entry into the world right before their eyes.

A critically endangered chimpanzee was born right in front of astonished and happy visitors. Imagine how that would have been to witness that.

The new, as yet unnamed, baby girl was safely delivered in front of a handful of Chester Zoo guests at around 5pm on Saturday following a seven-and-a-half-month pregnancy for mother Alice.

Zoo experts have also announced that the new baby is in good health. If you make a trip to the Zoo you will see her spending time bonding with her mother and other members of the 21-strong group of chimpanzees.
