I must admit I’m breaking new ground here as I am definitely not the best person to provide any expert information on Chester music. The good news is however I do know some local musicians. I will be turning to them for their insight and knowledge in due course. However, just to get the ball rolling, this post will be a general introduction to Chester music. It is a section I have been considering starting up for some time. And it’s a section I think will be of interest to visitors.

Chester Music – JakLash Cat

Although not a guru myself I am reliably informed there is a wealth of Chester music talent knocking about. It is hoped that as well as detailing the venues where you can enjoy Chester music performances, there will be enough feedback to showcase some of the very talented buskers we see regularly on the streets of Chester.

I do like my music myself. I suppose my musical tastes be best described as eclectic. If I hear something and I like it, I play it. Or, if there’s a karaoke on the go, I’ll sing it. A wide range from Bobby Vee to Journey will get me warbling….as will a few sherbets.

Just thought, as this is a Chester music section I should really give a mention to those pubs that have karaoke nights. Off the top of my head I can think of four. The Saddle (Friday), the Egerton (Fridays and Sundays), the Stanley (Saturday) and the Oddfellows (Saturday). If there’s any more, I’ll give them a mention. In time all these events will be showcased in my Events Manager section (when I can get the right settings sorted to display correctly in the software).

Who else may this be of interest to? Any choirs out there?

What about the Chester Cathedral? They must have Chester music events?

Street music festivals? The Roodee perhaps? And so on.

The Chester Music Venues

Again, off the top of my head the venues where you can see live music regularly are as follows:

The Saddle; Telfords Warehouse; Alexanders and The Live Rooms. Again I will look a bit more closely and I will notify of any others. Hopefully each of these venues will have their own sub-category in this general Chester Music category. As will of course some of our buskers, bands and solo artists.

I have a few people I need to contact this week to get this up and running a bit better. However, if you are aware of any artists, venues, karaoke pubs and so on, then drop me a line.

As I say, I am aware there is a lot of Chester music talent knocking about. I have often mentioned I do like a trip down to The Groves and quite often you do see some great acts down there. Not enough though in my humble opinion. The bandstand facilities in particular could be utilised more.

Having said that though I did get to see a really good band down there a few weeks ago. I also managed to take a short of The Groves and record JakLash performing. You can see the video and listen JakLash Cat in this link HERE.

Anyway, over to all the musical talent in the city I suppose. As I say, I’ll have a go on karaoke but I’m no musical expert. So, get in touch you musicians and showcase your talents.
