Chester Zoo Babies
As you probably know I love Chester Zoo. Having a season ticket means frequent trips are made. Having heard about the new Chester Zoo babies over the last couple of weeks, another visit was well in order. That’s the beauty of living close by and having a season ticket. You can go for a couple of hours or so and just specifically visit certain areas or animals.
With that in mind we went last Sunday with the main aim of seeing the babies.
Chester Zoo Babies
More specifically we wanted to see the new baby elephant, rhino, meerkats, painted dogs and otters. One of the reasons this post has been a bit later than I originally intended is because I took a video on a camera I hadn’t used for some time. The videos recorded OK, but when I tried to play them back, they were like a Benny Hill chase end scene. You know the ones, the camera speed is cranked up as Benny Hill chases some young ladies.
I’m not sure if it is easy enough to slow the recording down. When I’ve sussed it I will post the video on here. Or, we may have to go again and take some videos. Schucks……what’s the weather forecast for tomorrow?
I mentioned the new baby otters in an earlier post – see HERE. So, what other Chester Zoo babies are there?
Asian Elephant Calf
Proud Mum Thi Hi Way gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Thursday 17th May. Keepers at the Zoo confirm that Mum and calf are doing very well. Fair do’s to Thi, this is her 7th baby, so she is certainly doing her bit for the elephant population. As yet the calf remains unnamed.
Greater One-Horned Rhino Calf
Chester Zoo staff are also celebrating the recent birth of a Greater One-Horned Rhino calf. The birth has been captured live on CCTV. Congratulations to mother, Asha. As with the elephant calf, no name has been given to the addition.
Meerkat Pups
A collective oohing and aahing was most definitely audible when we visited the meerkats enclosure. Four “up to mischief” pups have just started to venture out. I have photographed one of them above. I’m not sure if you can see him/her clearly. They are tiny. If the photo isn’t clear enough we may have to go back again.
We went to the Painted Dogs enclosure but couldn’t see the new pups. Next time maybe.
As always, a great day out. Let’s hope there are more Chester Zoo babies again very soon.
