Chester River
It may not feel like it at the moment weather wise, but we are approaching the time of the year when we want to get out and about. So, where can we go? What can we do? No doubt there will be plenty of events lined up to interest us. I have already posted some of them and will continue to do so as and when. And time permitting of course. On that note, if you are aware of any events coming up that you would like me to mention, then drop me a line. Specific events aside, there are things you can do on a regular basis. For instance, there is always something going on at Chester River. More specifically, The Groves.
Chester River Dee
I must admit I do like my regular trips down to The Groves on Chester River Dee. Sitting on a bench and watching the world go by. You could take that setting anywhere and it would add something special to any destination you can think of. Last Sunday (8th April) wasn’t a bad day, so a trip down to the river was always going to be an option.
I had a good chat with the guys from the Lady Diana boat who are looking forward to the summer. As usual there was
a good, steady flow of punters embarking on a quick sail up the river.
The highlight of the trip though was listening and watching local band, JakLash Cat. It is a shame that there does not seem to be anywhere near enough venues providing quality live music in Chester.
For those that are fans of live music then you should get down to Chester river as often as you can this spring and summer. As far as I am aware, JakLash Cat are aiming to be playing at The Groves as often as they can. Fortunately I do like Country Rock music so I thoroughly enjoyed the cameo performance.
I had a good chat with the band – Phil “Lash” Blundell on rhythm guitar and vocals, John “Jak” Evans on bass guitar and Steve “Cat” Pyne on lead guitar – while they were wrapping up. They pride themselves on the fact that all their music is their own. No covers whatsoever. I’d be surprised if they didn’t get themselves a regular following down at Chester river these coming months.
You can see more details of JakLash Cat HERE on their website.
In the meantime, take a look at this very short video I managed to take on my phone……
I will take a better video I promise when I next see the lads down there. This video will give you an idea though of what they play. Three top blokes…..and to cap it off, they’re all footie fans. Not saying who they follow but when they finished and made their way to Grosvenor Park, they didn’t walk alone!!!
Weather permitting, get yourselves down to Chester river whenever you can on a Sunday. You won’t be disappointed.
